A fairly typical sporting read but there are some very interesting perspectives.
I never realised Thommo and his mate Lennie Pascoe grew up as Bankstown boys.
Always thought he came from Qld but he actually played a test whilst a New South Welshman.

Is it worth reading? Mallett seems to be on a mission to do a biography of every Australian who has ever played Test cricket. A lot of them are the same re-hased old stories from the 70's - have read Ian Chappell's which was fair to reasonable, didn't think Doug Walters was as good, although reading about his younger days was more interesting.

I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

So far.
McIver does a lot of writing for the british music press and does a very good job of it.
He's very honest and does criticise the band when needed.

Read Watchmen years ago.

Didn't see what the fuss was about.

Nor with Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, the other 'greatest comic book of all-time'.

Might have to give them another go...

I was lent the book by a colleague after mentioning I'd seen the film over Christmas. I'm enjoying it more than I thought I would but I reakon if I'd read it without seeing the film - as you would have done - maybe I wouldn't be so impressed
