I think an 80's inspired summer is on the cards. Wall Street, Breakfast Club... Anything 80's will probably get a run.[/quote]

Just watched a great interview on the ABC program "Talking Heads" with John Clarke. Such a funny man, The Games, still one of my favourite shows.

Fascinating, confronting and brilliantly acted/directed.

On discovery channel is a show called Overhaulin'. its about stealing someones classic car and completely overhauiling it into something magnificent in one week, while tricking the owner into thinking its gone forever. Its great for car buffs.

as for movies that we use to watch years ago and now the kids are discovering, my youngest cant get enough of the back to the future trilogy, and they didnt mind gremlins either.

Well Ch810 on Fox has just started "Rock of Love" where Brett Michaels (botox king by the looks) of Poison gets too find his one true love out of about 30 'hot' (questionable in some cases) rock women who move into his pad for a month. He eliminates several each week by the looks.

Completely sexist, degarding show :D On Saturday one chick wasn't getting enough attention so she borrowed someone's pink bikini about 3 sizes too small and, funnily enough, Brett found her a seat right next to him.

Some other chick the wrong side of 40 got too tanked and started crying and making non-sensical comments about her daughter or something.

Strangely compelling show ..... :?

That would have been a visionary piece of cinema; making a movie about a WW2 U-boat in the thirties...

I did say 30's  or 40's  Pseudo.

I just googled Das Boot, and it just proves that my memory is f$%ked up. It is based on a novel written in 1973, and the author Lothar-Gunter Buchheim died in February 2007. The novel was an autobiography based on his experiences during the 2nd world war.

I must have seen it though, and I think I might have got a bit confused as it was shot in black & white.

Sorry for the red herring fella's

Sorry JTC I'll further  you

Das Boot is in full colour

its a great movie well worth checking out for an insight into what submarine crews in war go through

For history buffs, the attrition rate of U-boat crew-men was horrific in WW2

Just watched Summer Heights High.

Great performances and some great moments...

But it's all over the shop.

Pretty much glorified sketch comedy.

A pity because it had the potential to be a classic.

Also Chandon Pictures.

The less said about that the better...

A bloke at work has loaned me his Babylon 5 series one box set, I'm halfway through this.

Not bad, quite watchable, but not as good as its fans would have you think. The early-90s CGI spaceship animations look amateur by today's standards and the plot is frequently of the standard of a comic book. It's enjoyable nonetheless.

I loaned the bloke one of my Blake's 7 box sets in return, so I can't criticise the special effects too harshly
