Hadn't heard of it, but the word "Brazilian" always gets my attention! Is it any good?

Has anyone watched Sense8, and if so, any feedback?

Unfortunately not that type of Brazilian.

In a dystopian future, only 3% of the population can live in the 'Offshore', which is an affluent island colony safely located away from the rest of a corrupt and poverty-stricken inland society. To reach the Offshore you have to pass a series of rigorous tests. It focuses in the main on a group of Offshore aspirants and the tests the must endure to gain entry, and the relations that develop between the group. The group is a bunch of young 20-somethings, and given the future setting, I couldn't help but feel it was borrowing from the 'Hunger Games' bag.

I lost interest about 4 episodes in. It's not bad, but it's also not great IMHO. Worth a look, though.

I'm loving watching the old Highlander: The Series on One Friday nights. Now Gotham is back on GO for season 2 and then the second half of season 4 of Vikings has just started on SBS too.

Ta mucho.

Dogwatcher wrote:Also just finished watching The Get Down. I'm not usually a Baz Luhrmann fan, but this is great. I couldn't help but get into it due to the hip hop, but there's a chick with a great set of lungs in this show which also makes it worthwhile, she can really sing. Also, Jimmy Smits is pretty good.

Really, really glad I went back to finish watching this, really impressed. Great characters, fantastic music, and a gritty recreation of the shit-hole that the South Bronx must've been in the late 70s, complete with well-inserted grainy file footage. Can' t wait for season two, which comes out this year and is apparently set in the early 80s.

The chick with the 'great set of lungs' is also a very, very proficient singer. ;)

Plus I now know why DJs use two turntables. 8)

I've been watching The Expanse on Netflix.

Image

Not really a sci-fi kinda guy, but the whole political, military feel keeps me interested. Decent acting, and good visual and sound effects.

Apparently it bombed on Syfy channel in the US (nearly cancelled), because its a cable channel, and no one outside of the US could get to watch it legally. Netflix took it to the world and its going great for them.

Someone mentioned a Netflix show The Killing in recent times.
Was looking for something to watch and we got through the first season in a week with a binge last night.
Quite a good show, with always something going on.

Looking forward to getting into season 2

Revisited House of Cards, started with season 3, I did find that this was best viewed in a binge, I do find it highly addictive.

For someone who has very little time for the monarchy and the fluffy nonsense and fuss that goes with it, I've really enjoyed watching "The Crown." Great performances, a good dose of family drama (not too melodramatic), and an interesting look into recent history from a different perspective - for example, the family tensions that arose during and after the abdication of King Edward. I presume, as with all historical recreations, that some license has been taken.

And John Lithgow's performance of Winston Churchill is very, very impressive indeed. Worth tuning in for (for want of a better word in the streaming age) just to see that.

Agreed with The Crown.
The Mrs wanted to watch it but I did enjoy it. Was quite a good education at times during the show as well, with all the internal family politics.

watched the first couple of episodes of Black Mirror.

Holy hell havent watched a show that has made me think more than this show. Each episode is an independent story and stays with you long after it has finished.

Incredibly dark but one of the better shows I have watched recently.

Watching an episode can be hard going, but most things that worthwhile experiencing don't come easy. Season 3's 'San Junipero' episode is a beautiful piece of television, it's hard not to be touched by it.

It's great to see something thought-provoking and that provides a worthwhile commentary on our addiction and obsessions with the expanding role of technology in our lives. Most of the content I've come across on streaming media services is derivative storytelling or lightweight fluff. 'Black Mirror' is the opposite.

By the way, anyone for pork? ;)

Started Daredevil today and I'm 8 episodes into season 1, I like it alot more than I thought I would. Got sick of Battlefield 1, don't have any more games to play or movies saved on my list to watch at the moment and needed a tv series to binge on. I'm mostly watching it for the Punisher and how the Punisher spin off series will eventually work off of Daredevil.
