Only reason I'd get Fox again is for HD sport but I'm actually surprised how well I've survived on streaming sites for my live sport fix. The incentive just isn't there as good as I know it will look on our 60 inch plasma. Its only EPL, Super 15s Rugby, NFL and AFL that I'm real keen on. Optus have EPL as of next season so I definately can't see myself jumping into any contracts for a while. Loving Netflix, such awesome value.

Yeah if the EPL goes I can see myself canning Foxtel - HD footy is awesome but 7 will have it in HD this year so that won't be an advantage anymore.

And given I'm a crows fan my games are on fta every week.

I know Optus has the rights, but im just wondering what they do with it - they could potentially sell the TV portion of the rights back to Fox Sports, as well as have some sort of internet/mobile offering.

That's probably what will happen IMHO. If their internet/mobile offering is the same as Fox I wont bother and will just keep streaming as is or going to the pub with Adelaide Spurs group for early games. If they offer every game Ill definately jump on.

They might offer something like the US sports leagues.

NFL's Game Pass, baseballs MLB.tv, etc where you pay for the subscription and watch it through a streaming service straight from their website.

Big money maker.

You can watch any game at any time. NFL Network/MLB Network. Historic games. Radio streams that are handy in the car.

All of the above mentioned sports are also sold to a TV network too (i.e ESPN, or the NFL on FTA as well)

I can see a similar thing happening with the EPL.

As a darts nuffie I'd like to see the BDO on foxsports, Eurosport gives you bits and pieces but nowhere near the coverage the PDC gets.

From someone in the industry I've been told there are pretty much 2 options on the table.
Optus has now severed their distribution deal with Netflix and have signed on with Stan so there is a chance they will offer the EPL through Stan.
Option 2 and probably the preferred option is to create a EPL channel on Foxtel similar to BeIn, probably going to cost between $40-80 a month to subscribe to the channel.

I believe that is the initial idea.
BeIn costs $19 a month on Foxtel and with the popularity of the EPL and the amount spent on the rights they believe it's worth double BeIn's subscription at least.
At this stage they are planning to have the viewers choice option and the fee would also cover the digital media side of things similar to Foxtel Go.
Most soccer nuts would gladly pay that a month for a pure EPL channel/s, I know I would. The BeIn subscription is an absolute must

Doubt I would pay that just for soccer. $20 I would probably pay

Got the apple tv and its pretty good. It wasnt exactly plug and play but its working. I'm currently watching the test in NZ. The quality of picture is about 90 to 95%.

If you like movies and tv series then this is for you.

In a BIG way!!

Mate of mine reads the comics so kinda spoiled it for me (although the show rarely sticks to comic script, so still wasn't sure how it would pan out)
