More gold from the Chaser:

BB's Emma suspicious about new 'burying father' task

The producers of Big Brother have honoured a contestant's father's wish that his daughter Emma not be told of his death. "I've been watching the series, and I know how depressing the goings-on in that house are," he told family members. "I'm worried that the news could tip her over the edge."

Instead, all housemates will be allowed to share in the moment at a special, prime-time ‘Friday Night Funeral' episode. Mike Goldman, Bree Amer and Ryan Fitzgerald will conduct a moving service in the games arena. "They'll all have a chance to have a bit of fun with a shovel, and sling a bit of dirt around," Goldman said. "And as always with the prizes on Friday nights, the housemates won't know what's in the box."

BB producer Kris Noble says the producers are doing everything possible to handle the situation appropriately. He now intends to let viewers decide whether Emma should be told via a lucrative SMS poll.

The cat was nearly let out of the bag at last week's eviction show when an audience member held up a sign telling Emma that her father had died. Noble was quick to criticise the attempt to contact the housemate. "There couldn't be a more insensitive way to find out," Noble said. "We want to make sure the news is broken to her slowly and caringly. Surely there is no better way than being told by Gretel in a prime-time midweek special, once we've had time to run saturation advertising?"

Noble promised that when Emma is told, BB's in-house psychologist Carmel Hill would be on hand. "For the first time, she might have something worthwhile to contribute," he said.

A grief counsellor has criticised the producers, saying that the decision could cause major trauma to the contestant. But she later conceded that the harm would be minimal compared with the massive psychological damage done to Emma by being nationally famous for a month and then quickly returned to obscurity.

"They should break it to her that her father has died as soon as possible," she said. "And at the same time, they should break it to her that six months after leaving the house, her only regular celebrity appearances will be at Centrelink."
"A no vote from any club means there is some sort of risk involved in our entry into the competition not working," Steven Trigg.

2 weeks in a row there's been a big 'save' vote for one house-mate

Only house-mate up both weeks = Rebecca

Being saved by Australia's Church community ?

Do we have a dark-horse housemate with a cause behind her?

Anyone think that Susannah's BF of 6 weeks has much hope of holding on to her now that she embarks on a 5 week party across the Country and possible new opportunities after that?

UK Big Brother has just started here. They only put females in the house and two of them were 53 and 60. They put one guy in the house at the end of the first week and he's the only one that's allowed to nominate.

A bird has been kciked out of the UK BB for racial comments.

Seriously, the housemates here in the UK make the Aussie versions look like Rhode Scholars.

Didn't mind a bit of Aussie BB, but the UK version is absolute trousers! WTF is it with those oldies? Fair enough if they were MILFS or GILFS, but FFS my eyes hurt like a bastard and I've only watched 20 mins!

Given the land-slide vote to evict Emma the producers may have been able to make a good guess on Sat night that she was going to go

Sounds like thankfully the show's psych got through to the producers to not use someone's death as a ratings gimmick
