Big call!

Reakon Daniel Day-Lewis, Sean Penn and Robert Downey Jnr. are in a league of their own right now.

Personal call but...

;)

Love (in a strictly hetero way) those you've mentioned mate, and I agree it's a big call .. Perhaps should have said "among the best".

Jeff Bridges is close to my favourite actor and IMHO he is very VERY good, but I still wouldn't have him in the class we've just mentioned.

Is that your rating of how they ply their craft OS, or more a list of your favourite actors?

(All top quality btw, I reckon Brad Pitt's ability in so many circles is under-rated)

I guess the way they go about it makes them my favourites.

They just seem to bring characters to life so well.

As for Pitt, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Inglorious Basterds) remains one of my favourites of all time.

Similar to Paul Newman.

And, dare I say it, Tom Cruise.

Heart-throb status counts against him.

But a great actor.

Yeah that's the angle I was referring to.

On another tangent, just watched the trailer for "Love & Other Drugs" which looks like an extremely interesting film .. Jake Gyllenhal is always good and Anne Hathaway (smokin IMHO) is a quality young actress, look forward to seeing this one.

by far my favourite actor. has played virtually every role imagineable!

to name a couple of his best efforts.....

Fraud Master in Catch Me If You Can
Mentally Diabled kid in What's Eating Gilbert Grape
Drug Addict in Basketball Diaries

His role in Inception was also sensational. Amazing movie.

The Departed And Blood Diamond, whilst not necessarily being unique roles, he delivered as he always does .. It will always be a personal call, but I believe he's been the best actor getting around for a while now.

Really enjoyed Blood Diamond, he was good in that aswell.

And who can forget him in Titanic? Great performance.

Don't talke to me about Anakin - that was the key thing that ruined the 'new' movies for me, the snivelling, sooky, wet whatever his name was that they cast in that role. Jumper was on tv the other night and it just confirmed to me how bad an actor that guy is.

Well said Gingernuts.

He is possibly the worst actor ever.
Anakin should have been way more angry and less whiney, little pussy.

Couple of good docos on ABC2 last night...

Image

Narrated by Matt Dillon, Once in a Lifetime told the story of the New York Cosmos and the North American Soccer League.

Image

Followed by Metal: A Headbanger's Journey, which was a bit slight but gave a pretty good overview of metal history.

At least for those of us not into metal...
