The supernatural theme of horror films sets them apart from the very good examples that you mention JAS. But I think there are many soldiers and homicide detectives that will tell you that they've seen plenty of real horror.
So you can draw a real long straw and say that Private Ryan and Reservoir Dogs can be classified in the horror (as well crime,war) genre.
