Get rid of that icon BB - makes me want to scratch the screen!

Interesting tonight. I think Dilana was the weakest and wouldn't care if she left.
Lukas' original wasn't TOO good - I liked Magni's, Toby's and Storm's. Nice top there Storm.

Toby, Lukas and Storm would be my top 3 pick.

I think.

*shrug*

Too hard.

Agree with your top 3 diss, but kinda get the feeling that the winner will only come from Lukas or Toby ... As mentioned Storm hit back last night which was good to see (and hear) and I also though Dilana was the weakest last night.

Good to see how far they've all come in that there are virtually no ordinary performances now ... Also good to hear Ryan's already on his way to a career in the industry by topping the MSN (I think it was) downloads ...

Dilana the chick with the "torn calf" (but had no trouble walking back to the rest of the group and jumping around a bit), will get voted off tonight. The workshop episode on Tuesday gave the indication that Gilby wants Toby as the singer of Supernova, and he thinks that Dilanas wasting her time being in the show - "If you're not going to bring anything to the band, why the hell do I need you" Lukas' original was almost as shit as his cover song, he has really gone off the boil over the last few weeks in my opinion, just seems to be in cruise mode not really trying. Tobys original was very good, I though Storms started off poorly, but got better, and would be better if the song wasn't heavily censored. Magni is ok, and it was good to see him actually do a heavier song, but I think he is better suited to slower, Coldplay, Live or REM type stuff, although Supernovas original stuff seems pretty mellow compared to GnR, Metallica and Motley Crue.

Would be good to see Toby get the gig, not just because he is Australian, but because he puts on a better stage show than the rest of them combined.

my thoughts...

Postby Lunchcutter » Tue Sep 12, 2006 12:36 pm

I would have preferred Storm to be in the final 4 - imo more deserving that Dilana (gosh has she got a mean streak or what?) and to be honest I dont thinks she's all that...
My tip is Toby.. and I just loved his original last week... woo o, o, o , o, o! Throwing it all away...

Why look it up online?
The final 2 episodes on Fox 8 this morning.

Toby was ripped off and Delana was only a token female in the last 2, she was never going to get the gig.

None of the songs in the last 3 shows were that good IMHO.

Result

Postby Lunchcutter » Fri Sep 15, 2006 9:59 am

Hmmmm Im still abit blown away by the final result.. then again JD was also canadian and had that special uniqueness about him too. i cant help but think Lucas has modelled himself on Iggy and Mick, sheesh he's almost like a mini me.. i think the supanova songs they've played so far are ok but I honestly thought Lucas may be too goth for them, but guess then tommy's safe (could not have seen them going for Toby he's wayyyy too good looking)
overall enjoyed the series and definitely will be watching again next year (im not gay (not that there's anything wrong with that) but how hot did bb look in that leather maroon dress - she is the quintesential (sp?) yummy mummy imho) :)

I wasn't suprised Lukas won.

The way I saw it was that

- They wouldn't choose a girl
- They would be hesitant to choose a foreigner (taking into consideration that Canadians aren't considered as "foreign" as Australian and Iceland)
- Magni has the homesick factor. Family, et al.

Toby was the best suited voice-wise I think.
Lukas is a good look for the band.

I enjoyed listening to him maybe, 70% of the time? Other times I found him hard to understand. Really did prefer it when he "Sang" and not used the gravel.

I hated Dilana as a person - she shitted me to tears. But, I couldn't not watch her perform (even if she was slightly predictable). Magni was great when he yelled, and sung with emotion.

In the end, the result is only part of it for me - I just love the singing and songs of the show - which was the main reason I watched the first series as well.

I stop open up songs from the firsrt series to listen to them. JD singing "The Letter". Jordis singing "The Man Who Sold the World". Marty singing "Wish You Were Here". MiG singing nothing (didn't like him).

This season, Toby did some great performances. I loved "Rebel Yell", and "Layla". The others had great perfomances as well. "Mother Mother" was GREAT by Dilana, one of the best I'd seen. Ryan singing "Losing my Religeon", and "In the Air Tonight" was excellent. I was thinking he'd be my tip to win at that point, or at least would have liked him to. Looking forward to hear his solo stuff.

In the end, another great season - although the early performers weren't AS good as the first season, but you take the good with the bad. Apparently Suzie McNeil from the first season was encouraged to audition for this one too and almost did.

Storm is the best looking 37 year old I've seen for a while :)

Time to start the DVD now - I have all the episodes! Doing the first season too - so you can choose an artist and play all their tracks. Same for this one.

I accidentally stumbled upon the winner yesterday, so held off posting til' today (being the thoughtful bloke I am) ... Was a great series, but I think the group had already decided Lukas was going to be there man quite some time ago, given they carried him through several performances when others perhaps weren't afforded the same luxury!

I think we'll hear from all of the Top 5 or 6 somewhere down the track, so a great series overall, it's a shame it's finished but at least now we can have our Tues, Wed and Thurs nights back again :)

Tobys bands myspace page. Includes the song he did on Supernova, Throw it Away, as perfomed by his band.
