Last Saturday nigtht I saw a performance at the Chaffey Theatre called Belly of a Drunken Piano performed by Stewart D'Arrietta.

And it was a great performance of a selection of Tom Waits' catalogue.

D'Arrietta was brilliant as Waits - playing the character to perfection, while also adding his own personal touches to the show, without ever straying too far from his subject.

It's performed with a three piece band and also a female singer for occasional duos.

It was a really great performance and even more notable for the fact that Chaffey managers placed the audience up on stage, up close and personal with the performers.

I didn't realise I knew so many Waits songs! I'll certainly be looking to listen to some more in the future.

If you get the chance, go see this show.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.
