Can definitely recommend if you like a spooky fairy tale, even though really it's as much a war drama. Extremely violent in places (the war stuff more than the monsters) but has a great creepy atmos throughout. My brother thought it was weird, I was actually hoping it was going to be a bit weirder! The little girl who plays the main role (Ofelia) is very cool. Loved it.

Oh...it is in Spanish but don't let that put you off at all :)

Early Oscar favourite for the Best Foreign Film.

Lots of interesting filmmakers coming out of Mexico at the moment...
