We won but we may have lost 2 of our better players for the season.

how did evans, miles and mcdonald go for sturt?

Whiteman and Hurley had leg injuries, hopefully not knees. Whiteman's didn't look too serious, he was able to hobble off, but Hurley went off on a stretcher.

Ronburgandy, was really impressed by McDonald in the second half, looked to be pretty gutsy and resourceful. Didn't see much of Miles but Evans did some good, strong things in the second half too.

Of our new boys Krane did some great in and under work, looking quite the part in his no.2 (like, I'm pretty sure, Klunny and Brodie before him). Gum had an excellent first half and Darling played well in the forward pocket early on. Brooks looks like he could fill a key position post with his bulk but wasn't given much game time.

mcdonald will go close to afl and if evans plays well this year in league u never no. both quality players. rumour had it evans had a huge pre-season and showing some form in the games.

Interested to hear how Ryan Darling went. Best footballers our club has produced for a long while so I hope he makes it.

He would have looked better in red, white and blue though

He moved very well and was very dangerous up forward. Kicked 2 goals and had a hand in a couple. Looks a very accomplished player.

Looks perfect in the Double Blue but will take on board.

He had some moments, a few good marks & he scored a few goals.
Spent most of the time on the bench, but what I saw of him indicates he could be OK in the SANFL, time will tell as this was his first taste of SANFL.

For the Blues did not have any passengers, those that didnt get many possesions competed very hard and contributed. If I had to pick 3 standouts it would have been Whiteman, Thompson and Nelson but all the lads did their part.

I am interested on how Jason Turner went,

apparantly hurley will be fine and whitey too, may miss a week each...

encouraging by the sounds of how the players went about it....great stuff....its still only a trial tho.

Good news, let's get those injuries out the way early and focus on the season proper!
Nice to get a win, but who wasn't playing? Just to get an idea of the potential strength of each side. I know even with a full strength side the coaches tend experiment anyway, so trials are seriously terrible form indicators, but in the context of what is happening at Unley right now, and the last game the Eagles played last year, Sturt definitely would have attatched a lot more meaning to winning this one. Hence the Blues had a lot more to lose, nice to get over the first hurdle.

absolutely right, trials mean nothing in the W/L column....its all about getting the side right with the right mix.

Highly unlikely. It was our first trial game and we fielded a half strength side at best. Far from a premiership hangover. Good hit out. the boys will be better for the run and can expect better efforts over the next couple of weeks. Taking nothing away from the blues they played much better than we did but premierships are not win in march but you would have been thinking they were the way a group of sturt supporters were carrying on. Good luck sturt you will improve I'm not sure by how far though.
