Salary Cap

As shown on the North winning Club Championship title thread, Westies appear to have breached the salary cap with their power-packed 2006 list, according to the points tally.
And to think our recruiting was no good because we couldn't match other clubs' offers.
Maximum penalties should apply, I have no sympathy for this breach.

I really hope your continual reference to salary cap breaches never comes back to bite you. Because it will be a bite like a hippo. Admire your tenacity though. Ever hear the story of, let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

Why would it bite me. Westies were over the cap last year by a tiny amount, but most clubs are miles over.
The SANFL doesn't want to know.
It should be policed properly, no matter what club it is.

Just be happy Westies can afford the cap.

Us as westies supporters should not accuse any club of breaking the rules, we have addmitted a breach and none of the others except south have been EVER proven last or this year

Punishment should be swift and harsh.

Norths going to buy a golf course
West going to buy a fertilizer business
"We paid a hell of a lot for some ordinary manure last year is the big worry"

I don't remember anyone saying that, quite the opposite.

personally i dont think there should be a salary cap for two main reasons 1, it is an afl directive (why should we 'have to' abide with what they say)
2, players are trying to earn & some just from football now if these players are good enough they should be entitled to get what they can, not what is dictated to them

If a player was good enough to earn his income solely from football, he'd be in the AFL.

Not a good example, these two combined a total of 10 league games last year and therefore cost the club very little.
Having said that, I do see your point.

So am I right in saying Centrals, Eagles, West and South have now been classed as salary cap cheats?
I hope fans from those clubs don't start throwing stones in their glass houses.
