The South Adelaide Football Club is pleased to announce it has recruited two new players for the 2007 season, Cory McGrath from Carlton and Josh Maddox from Echuca.
Joining Cory and Josh this season will be Ian Prendergast (Carlton FC) and David McKay (AFC-listed, selected in SANFL mini-draft). Outgoing players are Alwyn Davey (National Draft, Essendon), Leigh Kruger (work transfer, Riverland) and Damian Cupido, while both Rhys Archard and James Turner have been selected as AFL Rookies by the Adelaide Football Club.

Love the thread title WCP, good to see you still have your sense of humour.
Some good signings in amongst that lot, hopefully for South there are a few more 'keepers' in there and you can start to build something.

I changed my post but not in time. Both Ashley and Corey McGrath fit your description.

Ashley and Corey are brothers and look alike, hence the confusion...

Let it be known I dont like glenelg especially psuedo, but I cant agree with you smac - Stephen Kernahan was a champion - one of the many tragedys that occured to our mighty SANFL. Losing Champions like Kernahan deprived us from seeing him where he belonged all his footy career, at the bay. I dont blame him, I blame the vfl/afl.

An early 80s photo of anyone is funny. Particularly of someone as pretty as Kernahan.
Haven't seen many better CHF's on the field though.
Let's find a group discount on sarcasm sensors and buy one for everyone here, a lot seem to have faulty ones.

Now I'm not entering this debate, but...
A South Adelaide source (admittedly not from within the committee/admin structure) today told me that if Prendergast's recruitment hadn't blown the Panthers' cap wide open, McGrath's signing did.
I say good luck to them.

It defies belief to think that they can fit all their players under the cap when they've been fined 2 years in a row for breaches.
They had to reduce their payments and have lost Cupido, Davey and Archard. The last 2 wouldn't have been on big money. It's widely known that Prendergast is on huge money and McGrath would be on a significant amount.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if South won a flag in the next few years. I reakon that once normal air traffic resumed (after the pigs had all landed), every other club would immediately start offering berserk amounts of money to all and sundry. The salary cap would be effectively destroyed once it had been demonstrated that the penalty for breaching the cap was far outweighed by the benefits.
