South coming off a very hard fought and somewhat fortunate win whilst Port lost badly to Adelaide.

Port get 3 in to replace 3 out from their League side and lose Sinn and Duursma. Sam Skinner despite being so crippled by injury that he had to be subbed off will start the game. No syndesmosis for him.

South lose Brooksby to Covid who will be replaced by Griffiths. Samson and Broadbent will play.

I think South are still a side that is learning to play together and the loss of Brooksby is significant. Port at Alberton are always hard to beat. This game last year is best remembered for South giving away 2 666 violations in the final minutes. Hope we have learned.

That said, I think South can do it.

South by a point.

The Magpies look weaker than last match. I think the Panthers by 6 goals.

Looking forward to another look at how the South recruits gel. Some handy Ins, offset by the loss of Brooksby.

Always a lottery when you come up against the reserves teams, but appears (on paper anyway) one of the weaker Power teams we've seen.

Should be an interesting game...
Former South player , Sam Skinner doing a "lazarus" after being subbed out of last weeks AFL game because of injury , will front up against his old team.
South will miss Brooksby and hopefully Griffiths and Freitag can step up for him. Freitag will need to improve from his last effort at Alberton.........
Port will have done its homework on South's recruits - for several reasons..not just for this match. Imo there are one or two who wont be with South for very long.
Like others,I think it may take a while for Souths bevy of newbies to gel...I like Souths defence, I like its attack.. just a bit worried about the defensive action of some of its mids....South just.

Always a hard task at Alberton.

I am sure the Port faithful, their league side and Ken will be watching with interest with our recruits.

I still think we are not really gelling as a side .... just yet. Lots of players going in with a different way of playing and still learning.

Some good in's for us but Brooksby out a massive blow.

Think we can win by 10 points.

It’s a joke isn’t it? Don’t worry they’ll likely rest him for the second half like they did last week. The competition continues to be made a mockery of.

South gave their best to Bryce Gibbs, Jye Menzie, Hayden Sampson, Oliver Davis, Ryan Garthwaite.

Some big carnage though. Fingers crossed but looks like Baily Griffiths has done his knee. Oscar Brownless looked in a very bad way late in the game and assisted straight to the rooms. Damon Freitag who took over in the ruck after Grifiths had a very big gash across his cheek which was also very swollen. The sun/heat took it's toll on both sides as well. Haines looked very ill.

Entertaining game, not often both teams score 100+ anymore.

Port skipped out to a 28 point lead 22 mins into the 3rd, before South closed the gap to 10 at the final break. The home side kicked the first of the last quarter, with South eventually hitting the front with a couple of minutes remaining.

Given the heat one could have assumed the professionals would run the game out better..

Menzie again excellent with half a dozen goals, the type of player South have been missing in recent years.

Plenty to work on but a very satisfying result, and it leaves the one-clubbers 0-6.
