Both sides coming of a loss. Eagles have won 6 of the last 7 and lose Goldsworthy to injury. First game to Ballenden. Norwood lose Pedro and Richards and have named an extended squad.

Tough to chose but I think the Eagles will bounce back.

Eagles by 2 goals.

Ballenden will make a huge difference to the Eagles structure this week with someone tall we can kick to.

With Phillips coming into the side (without starring in the reserves last week) I can only assume Redden is under an injury cloud. If Redden does pull out then I assume Ballenden will be asked to play long periods in the ruck as Phillips is just a kid and needs to put on some size before he will be able to compete at league level.

Hoile's inclusion in the team is long overdue given he has constantly been in our best in the reserves over the past few seasons. It will be good to test him at the next level.

Buck looked good in the trials and played well in Darwin so will also be hoping he debuts.

This will be a very close match but am tipping Eagles by 2 goals.

No boundary advertising at the Parade is interesting?

I’ve heard they are installing the electronic/video style advertising on the boundary fence.

Had a crack but too many duds with poor skills. If you can’t kick simple set shots your not worth a burnt crumpet

Nice to get our first win of the season.

Thought Ballenden was very important and we looked very dangerous every time we got it forward with him, both Menzels and Hardie doing well down there. Duval another fine game, Pudney's second half was good after a slow start. Clarke just keeps racking up the possessions though I need to start watching him more closely because I don't seem to notice him during the game!!

Even though Phillips got monstered in the ruck by Boyd I thought he played with great energy (particularly in the first quarter) despite giving away probably 20kg or so! We probably need to stick with him until Redden and Guilhaus return though as he still presents a better option than the much shorter Firns

Did we set a record for the amount of 25m penalties given away? What was going on there?

Watched both seconds and league on the pass
Seconds ran the ball very well compared to the short kicking game of Norwood.
The league Eagles needed Ballenden and he certainly improved the forward line
First quarter Eagles kicking for goal if it had been straight game over but it’s the Eagles so it wasn’t
I’m still in shock that the Eagles pulled that game out to be a win . A win is better than a loss .
Some youngsters got to play so that’s a big bonus
I’m still confused hopefully Redden ,Allmond and Goldsworthy are all back soon

Thought the Eags got out of jail in that one. Norwood had all the momentum in the first half of the last quarter and I thought they would over run us. Senior players such as Thompson, Lonergan, Mutch and Sinor all showed maturity and composure at this point and rallied the troops for a gritty win.
Ballenden will be an asset, especially when Redden returns and I thought Hardie showed promise. Norwood played the corridor well and looked dangerous. They will get their share of wins, one of which probably should have been last night.

Redlegs dominated the final term last week too. They have the fitness; don't reckon they're too far off the mark.

Our fitness looks good and our desire can’t be questioned but our skills are quite poor.
