R5 Norwood v South Friday 7.40PM

Undefeated South Adelaide ( I normally stop posting that in Round 2) go to Norwood looking to have their best start to a season for quite some time.

A look at the year to date stats shows one team leading both the clearances and tackles for the league. Yep Norwood. So they try hard to get it, get it but have two bad losses in the last two weeks? Efficiency is the key. And when that changes. look out.

Michael Knoll has been rucking well (leading non AFL listed ruckman) but his around the ground game seems to have dissapeared. Harry Boyd in the ruck provides a good second option and Norwood will/should look to take advantage of this. If you have it they can't score.

After confidently posting that South escaped injury free last week (who would have thought I was completely wrong) both Fitt and Biemans will miss. A big blow.

I expect Horne and possibly Turner to be the replacements. Norwood look to have no new injury concerns.

Souths record at Norwood is as poor as it comes. Big danger game looms and South need to be more efficient in shots at goal.

South by a point.

South by 55, we don’t have a forward line

Always an adventure playing at Norwood, and thats after you eventually locate a carpark.
Danger game for us, record poor at Norwood and a forward line that is under performing in my opinion. Knoll will clearly give Norwood first use so Souths mids will be under pressure. Fitt and Biemans big outs for South but the return of "Cracker", and probably Turner or McKinnon will help fill the void. I'm tipping Norwood to react strongly after last weeks poor performance, if they dont....the natives will step up the drum beating a notch or two!

Panthers in a close one.

South’s starts to seasons in general have been very good since 2014:

2014- Won 5 of first 6 (lost prelim)
2015- Won 4 of first 5 (finished 6th)
2016- Won first 6 (straight sets finals exit)
2017- Won 5 of first 6 (6th)
2018- Won 4 of first 6 (lost elim final)
2019- Won 4, drew 2 of first 7 (6th..again)
2020- Won 4 of first 5 (lost prelim)

With the exception of 2016 when only 4 minor round games were lost, a 3-5 game losing streak has occurred at some point later in each of those seasons.

Yep South by 4 or 5 goals unfortunately.

Norwood not showing any improvement since the Sturt game. :(

At least its stopped the Norwood as shoe-ins for the grand final that we've been hearing over the last few years.

South have to drop one sometime and i reckon this night game on the small oval against a dominant (ex South) ruckman and mounting prersure on Norwood to win at home suggests this is the most likely loss for Panthers. I've been wrong before happy to be so again.

Yep - my feelings too.
Norwood probably been read the riot act by Rawlings.
Norwood still a quality team on paper but just can’t get it together atm.
South seem to struggle at Norwood oval and on smaller grounds.
The one thing we have up our sleeve is our fitness.
We run out games very well.

South by 1 goal

You don’t think they were read the riot act after that gutless performance against North?
And they showed just as much spine against West the following week

As a Legs fan I'd certainly hope (and expect) for a response to two very below par performances ... Hoping that's enough to limit the damage to a 6 goal South win.

Will be very good to have Horne back in. What are the chances of a tower trio up forward with Overall, Skinner and Nobes all playing?

I expect this to be a close one, The Parade is not a happy ground for South and the margin won't be more than two goals. Which way will it go? I'm not so sure... :?

Just saw the team, no tower trio this week.

Norwood's team is quite poor on paper, lots of gaps in experience and very poor recruiting with the loss of so many. Most disappointing thing is our senior players have been junk.

South would have to play an absolute stinker to drop this one.

Pretty scrappy but loving our intensity and attack on the ball so far.
Can we keep it up all game?
