I'm hearing that our cap is at its limit, so that's it for recruiting.

Doesn't surprise me re the cap. Still been a really good off season recruiting wise. Plus getting players back from injury pretty excited for the year

Keeping it in the family there.

If that's the case why were we talking to them.

Coz one of them, or even both, could be better than someone we have already signed up, then we can cull.
Or they wanted too much, more than we had left in the bag.

Surely you cant just go culling a bloke who has probably signed some form of length of contract...most likely one year.

Surely you would be required to then pay them out which would still count towards the salary cap.

Doesn't make a lot of sense to me.....nevermind the reputation the club would get amongst players if they moved blokes over here from interstate than cut them before the season started after signing a contract.

It would probably be local players who would be subject to culling, as all clubs do between one season and the next. It is not only interstate recruits who the club has to pay for, all players are paid for.

Cheers

Would doubt local players who are currently subject to culling would be on anywhere near as much as a potential boom new recruit from interstate.

Especially a local player who is in your best 21.
Hopefully the key tall that westies just signed isn't better than Pickering and the other kpp's that we have recruited.
The worry is that all of them are reserves standard only.

Oh Ye of little faith.
I'm sure the recruiting staff know what they're doing,
The one thing that encourages me is that we will be better than last year & that's the priority, improvement.

I think you will find that the majority of our recruits are better than 'reserve grade' standard, particularly given a new lease of life at a new club. Even the competition some will provide for spots should result in them 'upping' their standard. Will all recruits work out? No. However, if even a third of these go on to play regular league football, we will have benefitted. I agree with Gazza that we need to have faith in Meggsy, Mark and Thommo; they know what they are doing.

A wonderful night planned by the club on March 11: 'The Night of Nine', a celebration of our nine premierships. A fantastic way to start the season and celebrate our champions.

Hopefully all the current players have a ticket and they realise what flags mean to the northern suburbs!!

What do we think is a realistic pass mark for us this year .
I would be hoping that we improve enough to win 8-9 games

All depends on how much the opposition has improved as well!
We could end up winning 8 games BUT still end up 9th!
I'd be happy with being very competitive in every game, no one quarter fade-outs (this has plagued us in the past few seasons) and win a minimum of 6 matches.

I agree; would be happy with consistency in being competitive each week.

Would 6 wins be enough to give Thommo a 4th year
