SANFL grand final timing

I much preferred it when our GF was the week after the AFL. Am I the only one?

With you. With 8 sides we could make it a 21 game season and play it after AFL GF. A stand alone GF could be broadcast around Australia like it used to be. You never know fox could take it on.
I think it was changed at our masters behest to allow our draft prospects be tested earlier. The SANFL need to grow a pair.

By no means.

Having it after the AFL GF on the long weekend just made sense.

AND have it on the Saturday. There is no point putting it on a Sunday if it's not clashing with Prelim finals (which it doesn't because they will be night games from here in).

Great suggestion. Gives everyone the next day to get over it.

If we have to have the AFL Reserves...

Start the season at the end of March. Grand Final the Saturday of the weekend after the October long weekend.

25 Round Season - 18 Rounds where the AFL Reserves are involved, an extra 7 Rounds plus Finals where it's just the 8 SANFL clubs, with a 3-week Final 4. Drop the AFL Reserves away from the calendar/ladder towards the end of August and have the last handful of minor round games plus finals without them.

Unfortunately the SANFL isn't here for the best interests of the SANFL.

Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, if the SANFL DOES "allow" them back in, make the matches when we play the AFL sides byes, training runs. No points & they don't play finals.

I like it Gazz. Still compromises the integrity of the SANFL but is preferable to the pre COVID-19 arrangement.
I can see clubs not playing full strength sides probably even playing the Reserves team, which would be appropriate as it would be both teams Reserves.
Could the SANFL teams play top up players from the Adl Footy League if they can't field a full side?
Also no Magpies but Port Power AFL Reserves team.

Don't know why anyone bothers suggesting scenarios where the AFL reserves teams play for no points.

Spoiler alert - never going to happen.
