Has this been confirmed? I haven't seen anything in the injury lists about this.

Yep.

Whilst I hope he recovers speedily I am not too unhappy about him missing the final series as he doesn't have a great record in tough hard matches during past final series. Put simply - he doesn't put his body on the line. He is also part of a rapidly shrinking group of players at the club who've been part of unsuccessful finals campaigns over the past 7-8 years and have clearly got mental demons about playing on the big stage and susceptible to choking.

I am completely at ease going into the finals series with our group of new or young and inexperienced kids who will not be as burdened with expectations.

Love your honesty about Hall & others who haven’t got the job done previously in the finals.
But make no mistake, whilst there’s pressure on all 4 teams playing finals, no club is under more pressure than the Eagles.
Clearly the best team in the minor round, odds on favourites with the bookies for weeks to win the premiership... It would be a major fail anyway you spin it if you don’t win the flag.

Would guess those four in for Hall, Westbrook, West and Jungfer.

Seems very likely.

It will be a wet day so we cannot go in with two main ruckman - Redden and West.

I think last weeks game highlighted the issue with West

I have through all those losses like every other Eagles fan . You could be right .
What your missing and perhaps other fans for other clubs are missing . Sheedy brings something that’s been missing for many years .
Now watching all the eagles games you see it .
1 Belief
2 Attack
3 besides recruits that the eagles needed YOUTH . Why do I mention youth Sheedy promotes youth been to many years from happening as you can see in other SANFL sides with ex Eagles playing
4 youth played in solid junior grades and know how to win the older players can guide them . But youth has gotten the side back up the ladder

Interesting, I'm assuming North are expecting a bit of rain as James Craig is having a good season and they've dropped him to have no recognised specialist ruckman.

Kym LeBois Mitch Harvey Lewis Hender
Frank Szekely Keenan Ramsey Robbie Young
Jarred Allmond Harrison Wigg Will Combe
Cameron Hewett Tanner Smith Alex Spina
Ben Jarman Karl Finlay Mitch Clisby
Ruck - Alex Barns, Andrew Moore, Campbell Combe

Interchange - Elliot Chalmers, Patrick Davies, Dyson Hilder, Keanu Miller, Lee Minervini, Tom Schwarz, Mackenzie Slee

In - Lee Minervini, Andrew Moore, Tom Schwarz, Tanner Smith, Alex Spina

Out - Cameron Craig (Chest), James Craig

Quite surprising that James Craig's been dropped to the twos. Agree that it's a weather thing - last I saw, the BOM was currently expecting 15 to 25mm on Sunday.

Great to see Moore, Spina, Smith, and Schwarz back in - all very valuable players, but particularly Moore and Schwarz who provide us with some inside engine-room grunt, and will be required to do so if the forecast comes to fruition. Also happy to see Minervini back in the squad, too - hope he jags a spot on the bench. I'd probably leave out Slee, Hilder, and Davies (who would be unlucky to be dropped).

EAGLES

Woofville-West Torrens is poised to take a near full-strength line-up into its Second Semi Final against North at Adelaide Oval.

Veteran wingman Chris Hall (pectoral) is out for the rest of the season but stars Jack Hayes, Lachlan Jones and Rhyan Mansell all return to the starting 18.

Experienced premiership player Matt Goldsworthy is on the extended interchange after recovering from his glute strain while Jackson Lee and Jack Firns have also been named on the extended interchange.

Ruckman Jordan West and defender Jake Westbrook were forced out to the Reserves.

F: Rowe, J. Hayes, Poole

HF: N. Hayes, Von Bertouch, Foote

C: McNeil, Toumpas, Wehr

HB: Jones, Giuffreda, Mansell

B: Rowland, Thompson, Seymour

R: Redden, Sinor, Tsitas

INT: Pudney, Lowson, Lee, Goldsoworthy, Jungfer, Comitogianni, Firns

IN: J. Hayes, Mansell, Jones, Firns, Goldsworthy, Lee

OUT: Hall (pectoral), West, Westbrook

Lowson, Lee and Jungfer are playing in the eagles reserves team that is taking on Centrals today.

Tough call on Lowson given the last two weeks he has finally hit form with 5 goals and 3 goals.

There still needs to be another person to drop out of team. I am assuming they are waiting till the very last minute to make the call on whether Goldsworthy is fit.

Lowson playing with a heavy knee brace. Probably why he was left out. The other 2 are extremely unlucky to miss out.

Yes I noticed that brace. Yet it seems a strange decision to play him at all if his knee is an issue.

He kicked 4 goals in the reserves and probably should have kicked 5-6 goals through kicking inaccurately in front of goal and giving away another shot which he would have slotted.

He doesn't get much of the footy possession wise but he gets great value for touches. From what I've seen of him so far he is an accurate, long kick. Perhaps once concern is that it seems like he can play one position only which can be problematic. Rowe, for example, can play in the midfield if he is having a dirty day up forward.

No chance he will be drafted which I understand is the reason he went interstate looking for opportunities to impress - his one last chance. It remains to be seen whether he decides to stick around next year given the AFL dream will mostly be dead and we won't shell out big $$ under an anticipated tighter club salary cap which will be shame because I'd love to see what he is capable of with a strong pre-season behind him.

Sam told me at the club on Thursday night when I saw that he was wearing the knee brace that he will require a full knee reconstruction because he has done the ligaments etc. He did say that he would try and play in the reserves because he probably couldn't do any any more damage. We are fortunate he did because his 4.2 was the difference between winning and losing especially after being thrashed by Centrals at the same ground only last week. Just shows that finals are a different kettle of fish

That's terrible! From what I have read last year he badly damaged his ankle in the VFL which may have impacted him getting drafted. Poor guy can't take a trick. Did he do it during the match last week or during training? I am assuming it is his ACL? I had no idea that it still was possible to play with this damage. You are correct though - he played really well.

First time I have had the chance to watch the reserves play this year. There are some really good players running around who will be pressing for selection next year alongside some of the U18s. I liked the look of Beecken, Michael and Coff.

Patrick Davies and Dyson Hilder played reserves this afternoon, so they're out of the squad. I'm guessing one of our formerly injured inclusions is still to undergo a fitness test, or simply won't play.

Full marks to Lowson for courage and putting the club/team first. It would have been so easy to just rest on his leg brace.
