Good, can fire Cotton tonight. No need to wait until the end of the season now

I heard he had another year Jim ?
He does but I’m sure it can paid out.
Far cheaper than keeping the fool

Very satisfying win, sewing up a finals match up with the Bays in the process. A case of 'all played well', with the club naming their best as: P. Hunter, J. Cross, M. Broadbent, J. Haines, M. Karpany, N. Schwarz

Hunter has been a significant inclusion, and a presence we've lacked without Brooksby over recent years. Karpany adds a degree of class which the midfield can lack at times.

Norwood were terrible after quarter time. Nice to smack them after squandering the game at the Parade a few month's back.

First victory over Norwood in late September since 1894.

If he gets paid out , it makes a mockery of it all. Sounds to me it's more than the Coach. Keep bringing in some very high profile names hoping to win it.
Arse protecting and poor if thats the case with no consideration of the club. Seems to be nothing coming through either.

Horrible game style and as many have said we look unfit at times. That is all on the coach.

But clubs cant keep always recruit to get it right. Norwood seem to just want to recruit a flag.I could be wrong.

Will play second week of finals.

Third week not out of the question.

The prelim final is shaping as the pick of the finals matches.

I agree with that . I like how the top 3 teams play and either of those in a GF should be a good spectacle.

Who’s trying to protect their arse? Backs up Jim’s argument.

I’d suggest from what was expected of them our recruits in the main did well.

Didn’t see the game today, but congrats South, be stoked for ya’s if you can go all the way. Best I saw us play this season was the win over South at the Parade which we arguably could/should have lost anyway.

We need a cull of names living in the past, an investment of youth, and a multi year plan to build a nucleus that might hopefully compete for many years. If that takes a few years to create/develop, then so be it.

One injury for South out of the game.

Horne did his calf (not good for a 17year old) and I would think will struggle to get back.

Highmore was ruled out and did not play as did Biemans.

Bad news for the young fella, hope he recovers ok.
Was Highmore’s absence precautionary or is there a lingering issue that will keep him out?

I really liked how South played with the extra tall up forward. Whittlesea played very well up the ground as a link up player. I like that Haren, Cailotto and Whittlesea can play forward or back and Cailotto can give Hunter a rest in the ruck. Good versatility to have with likely fine weather in October.

Should play this week.

Great game to watch for us South supporters.
For once, we don't rely on the last round result to see if we play finals footy. South looked very slick on the weekend except for the poor goal kicking.

Thought Norwood came out an played good direct footy....Dom Barry kicking the first goal. After first quarter, Norwood constantly kicked short across goals (even in the last quarter when down by 60 plus points). South's pressure just killed them. Hard tackling and direct footy.

Paul Hunter - outstanding killing Baulderstone in the ruck. He's a class act.
Joel Cross - doing what he does well. Gets better with age.
Broadbent - reliable and dependable. Seems to very much enjoy being a leader and loves his Panthers.
Joey Haines - defended and intercepted so well.
Malcolm Karpany - from being injured in round 1 and coming back into the side. He looks silky smooth and classy.
Nick Schwarz - hard at it in the middle and we are a better side with him in it.

Really enjoying the way the team is playing and there is very much a good feeling in the playing group this year.

Long way to go yet...... ;)

Great write up southee, agree with everything you said and the players you mentioned you’re spot on at what they bring. Love what Malcolm does, really hope he can play to the last game (whenever that may be). Luke Bogle had a great game back in the league side too and he adds another mid/forward option to the rotation. This South team is different than what we’ve seen in a long time, hopefully they can keep up their effort and intensity.
