Round 12 Norwood v Sturt Friday 1940

Postby DOC » Mon Sep 07, 2020 1:00 pm

Sturt were great (damn them) against South and may be strengthened with Kirkwood and Slimming possibly available.

Norwoods form is very up and down and that may continue.

Finals still in reach for the winner, Plenty of incentive and a good crowd would be fitting.

Toss of the coin and will wait for the teams.

Maybe. I wasn't sure that I should be indecisive but then I thought maybe I should or maybe I shouldn't.

Even with a win it’s doubtful we play finals so that’s surely the trigger to get rid of him

NORWOOD

Norwood has called upon the marking power of tall forward Luke Surman for its blockbuster against Sturt at The Parade.

The former Hawthorn utility has been elevated from the Reserves for his first League game since injuring his hamstring in Round 3.

Surman has been joined in the Redlegs’ 25-man squad by utilities Brad Carroll and Jed Spence.

Potential AAMI Rookies Jack Heard (Walkerville) and Sam Barnett (Payneham) have also been named on the extended interchange bench.

Captain Matt Panos will miss the rest of the season after injuring his MCL and ACL in his knee against Central while Jacob Collins damaged his hamstring.

STURT

Sturt could regain a premiership wingman for its massive clash with Norwood at The Parade.

Steven Slimming has been named on the extended interchange bench after overcoming a minor shoulder complaint suffered against West in Round 10.

He has been joined on the seven-man extended interchange bench by three defenders in Rory Illman, Will Coomblas and Dean Gore.

Good hard game of FOOTBALL, (with inaccurate kicking), much better to watch better to watch than the tripe that is being delivered in the VFL every week.

Good vocal crowd, probably 50/50.

Loved the commentary of Michael Virgin tonight on Digital
Quite intelligent and also very entertaining

ST up 3-4 to zero at the 12 minute mark of the first quarter
NW did well to eventually win the game

Where's spelly when you need him? Mercifully, he's right here!

While we've got you spelly, speaking of reserves records:
1. Has any team ever picked up the wooden spoon in the league, while winning the reserves flag? Now unlikely, but Centrals are going close. Their reserves team is all-conquering—it can only work at league level if West somehow snatch a win (Norwood being their best target) at the tail end of the year. That's one very even squad that Centrals have got.
2. Norwood now looking very likely to go from 2019 reserves premiers, to 2020 reserves wooden spooners. Happened before?

Thanks!

West are about 2% behind us, they'd need to beat Norwood by a shitload to give us the spoon.
