Big game for both sides with resect to their fianls aspirations.

The Annual Darley-Carey Cup is on the line and for the first time the John Schneebichler medal for the player adjudged BOG will be awarded for the first time https://glenelgfc.com.au/news/glenelg-and-south-adelaide-announce-the-inaugural-john-schneebichler-medal/, Great man Sneezer, SSO representative, all round good bloke and legend of the SAFC and GFC.

Extra incentive for the Bays will be the fact it is premiership legend Carl Nicholson's 100th game. Smooth mover, highly skilled and no fuss dedicated club Man. Has fought injuries and rubbish seasons to achieve the ultimate last year. https://sanfl.com.au/league/news/carl-returns-in-the-nicho-time/

Both teams need the win for their finals aspirations (bays to keep in touch with the top two and South to stay in the four

Going for the Bays on the home deck, by 2 goals. South match up well against us but last week was our best four quarter game for team work and work rate since 22/09/2020

Forecast looks bleak, cold wet and windy.- apparently these conditions do occur at other suburban grounds, apart from Noarlunga...
Always a stirring encounter at the Bay.
If South can somehow find a forward to take a mark and then kick a goal, thereby taking advantage of the clearances, inside 50s and possession count which they've lately had over the opposition, they should win.
They wont.
Hate to say this, a draw.

South hard at the ball, in front of every contest, running harder all day, and generally doing everything right.

Glenelg had a very dirty day today.

I bloody well hope the first semifinal isn't Glenelg and South. On recent history the Bays wouldn't stand a chance.

If South kicked straighter it would have been embarrassing. Glenelg look to be making up the numbers if they make the finals.

Impressive and important win to arrest a losing streak.

South named J. Cross, J. Haines, B. Heaslip, S. Overall, J. Summerton, N. Schwarz as their best. Haines bounced back after being unsighted last week, while Broadbent was another who was very busy.

Really coulda/shoulda won by more, but will happily take the 2 points and the % boost.

Great win.
South need to bring that effort every week. managed to finish the good work around the ground by hitting the scoreboard this week.
Cross was excellent, Hunter gave our mids first look more often than not.
looking forward to the rest of the season.

Sanfl are to blame with that considering they are controlling Glenlgs finances. I blame the SANFL.

well done south, smashed us everywhere, we were made to look 2nd rate and were held scoreless for nearly 60 minutes, massive improvement needed is an understatement :(

Didn’t mean to “like” the post.
The SANFL are controlling the GFC’s finances? Really?

Excellent win! We really needed that and came to play from the start. Very even contributions from most with Cross, Haines, Broadbent and Overall standing out. Credit to Ben Heaslip for applying pressure in the middle with 13 tackles and Overall applying pressure up forward with 9 tackles. Defence held up well when Glenelg had the wind in the second quarter. Paul Hunter very good in the ruck again and his Williamstown mate Daly Andrews had a nice debut for the club including a running goal. It was also nice to convert more shots on goal this week than we have been, although still lots of room to improve. A good step forward, easily South’s best win of the season.

Go Panthers!

A question for you scholars of the game. In the last quarter South kicked the ball down the line to a marking contest on the wing but it was called out on the full. Does anyone know why this happened? The marking contest was about 2-3 metres inside the boundary. There was a suggestion that the ball went out but then the wind blew it back into play but surely if it lands in play it’s play on? I don’t know, I thought it was amusing but if it was a close game it wouldn’t have been.

Nup, the umpire had it right, its out on the full if it floats over the line, seen it quite a bit.
