The influence that the young men have taken. Not for me but, If its what they wanted to do in representing the state well thats their call.

This song singing is a recent phenomenon and they were following suit.

I remember Ted Whitten used to get the Victorian boys singing their State Song after a win.
Surely there must be a South Australian victory song somewhere in the archives.
A bloke of Neil Kerley's vintage, or earlier, must have sung it if we have one.
C'mon 'brains trust', lets find it and start using it a.s.a.p.

Luv,
Sabre.

Isn't that song (Join in the chorus) the same as North Melbournes.

Realised the error of their ways. Will be singing the following song after their next win:

Cheer boys cheer we are South Aussie
A draft spot up for grabs we won this game
Won this game

We'll play 'em all around
Kick to the fat side of the ground
And we think our group has got the best game plaa-ann.

Milk milk milk the clock
Pass the ball around
Forward pressure Forward pressure
Bring the ball to ground

Happy to go
Happy to go
To any AFL team
South Aussie we are
South Aussie we are
We love the AFL dream

Did we win?
[spoken-word] Well full credit to the other team but we just stuck to our structures and [/spoken word]
We $hitted it in!

They initially were two different songs. The Victorian song was the initial part of the song"Out they cone, out they come" etc and the North Melbourne song was "Join in the chorus" etc. After a Victorian victory at the end of the song the North Melbourne reps started singing " Join in the chorus" and gradually over the years this became part of the Victorian song.
It has only been in the past 15 years that North Melbourne have began singing the Victorian start to the song. They always used to start with "join in the chorus"

Not that recent, North are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of "It's a great, great club" this week against Sturt. Johnny Mac penned it and did the original recording, he's going to singing it live on the oval Sunday
