Adelaide have two games on the Saturday as they have a prior engagement on the Friday

Still got my T-shirts from North's 7 a side win at Wayville 15-20 years ago. Still celebrating it too as we're the reigning premiers and undefeated at it in almost 20 years.

For the life of me I can’t remember anything about this comp.

Most of the blokes were so fat that they filled the oval the same as a regular 18 a side game, so not many people noticed.
;)

With this squad I expect South's Overall Rankine to be Fairlie consistent this year, but a Liddle Irra or two at the wrong time could cost them. I hear they're only Szust Fitt enough for the time of year, disappointing given they're done lots of training on the Fields in the Summerton. Brooksby will be a key player, takes a big Crabb, but if Heaslip over or Kappler one behind the play then I'd say it's Hall over for them.

Do others Raitt the Panthers this year? Have to wait Tyllis over to accurately judge, of course.

I was actually there watching it, was very forgettable though, might have even been 9 a side, who knows. Sure as hell wasnt 18 though. The fact that North won it and it was this century goes to show how much of a shambles it was. It wss something like a sports expo at the show grounds with the sanfl comp being one component of it, was in a February I think.

You are around the mark, Wedgie. North won it but it wasn't this century. North won it with Brett Mancini as captain. He left the club in about 1996 so I suspect it was around 1994. It was certainly played pre season at Wayville.

Reckon it was 1993. I think Port had a stand-in coach because it was Cahill's daughter's wedding day; that should give you an exact date.

I was there, bumped into my specky Port mate there too. Highlight of the day was walking through the sports expo in between games and approaching the women's football exhibit, where some butch short-cropped lasses took a shine to my girlfriend...

Cheers for the info guys, I'm suprised it was that long ago with my memory hence why I assumed it was more recent!
Good to know we've been reigning premiers more than 20 years, a great feat! :D

Oops!

I thought Wedgie was referring to the legends game involving North, which also had a reduced number of players on the field. I think it might have been played around 2008 or thereabouts.
Certainly not 15 or 20 years ago and it might be an idea if I read the original post a bit better.

The game I was thinking of even had a member of the grog squad playing for North, who was somehow elemental in the scoring of the winning goal, if reports from the day were correct.

With that game in mind I made my earlier post about fat blokes filling up the field, which obviously wouldn't have made any sense if the game involved fit footballers in their prime.

Sorry for my temporary retardedness.

So the rules of this February premiership season are:
(from sanfl.com.au)
* 12 matches to be played across two days – four on Friday February 9 and eight on Saturday February 10
* Each match consists of four 10-minute quarters
* Team in front at final siren wins
* Penalty shoot-out finale from 30m in front of goal to decide winning team if scores tied at final siren
* 12 players per team on the field – four midfielders, four forwards and four defenders
* Unlimited interchanges. Interchanges occur at points in each sector of the ground (midfield, forward, back)
* 9 points awarded for any goal kicked from outside 50m arc
* Ball to be kicked in after any score, goal or behind
* Ball to remain in play if rebounds off a goal or point post
* Last TOUCH out of bounds rule enforced, as opposed to Last Possession used in minor round

"Team in front at final siren wins" : What an interesting concept... :)

NB. Yeah i know, no scoring with kicks after siren I suppose.

I'd like to know which brewery chimney will be painted after this?
