NAFC "Football Department Review"

Hopefully this can go somewhere towards steering North in the right direction, we've been a club with success off the field for sometime now. Except for a few years in the early-mid 2000's we've been a basket case on the field, something has been wrong for a long time at Prospect, hopefully this addresses any issues and guides the club in a direction more likely to produce success.

Dear Members and Supporters of the North Adelaide Football Club,

Just a quick note to advise you that, further to my note to you all on the 21st July 2017 advising of the review of our Football Department, the Board has agreed to engage International Sports Care (ISC) to undertake the review. The Review will be led by ISC Directors Brian Cunningham and Tim Ridgway who will equally share the role.

Many of you would know Brian who has had extensive experience as a player at SANFL league level and as a Chief Executive in both the Private and Public Sectors including at the Port Adelaide Football Club and at two large SA Government Departments.

Tim has expertise in the provision of high level consultancy and organisational development services as well as group and individual coaching, leadership development and player welfare programs for athletes and coaches at all levels. He has recently conducted these programs for a number of AFL clubs, including Collingwood, Port Adelaide, Brisbane and Richmond. He also has expertise in career and vocational guidance and organisational and sports psychology.

The review will commence Monday 7th August 2017 and be completed by 22nd September 2017.

As I said to you previously, this an exciting and positive move for our Club and we look forward to the outcomes and to maximising the performance of our club in the future.

Regards,
Lee Virgin
President – NAFC Board of Directors

The good old days of SANFL passed many years ago Ian.

I don't think they will ever return.

As a competition, we are all trying to hang on.

Goodluck neighbour.

I love an "external" review :

"We've tried to work it out, but we can't, so we're paying someone else lots of money to see if they can".

If you mean as a player, sure! Even at his age he's as good as anything we're putting out on the field at the moment.

Magellan is right, one or two have pushed for a review with no positive result, others happy to plod along as we are, a mediocre basket case on the field, doing fine off field

The way I see this one

A number of people within have been asking for this
No joy from those that could let it happen
Pressure from outside has forced their hand to actually do something
Person with responsibility to chose consultant has best interest of club and taken this serious
A very good choice of the organisation who is conducting review

So long as those who may have their toes trodden on by the findings toe the line and put recommendations into place, this should be very good for the NAFC

No shit D2 :?

this isn't about the demise of the SANFL, it's about a footy club in a mess trying to get their shit together and perform well in the competition we are stuck with

Hearing that both the 16s and18s coaches have been sacked and their replacements anointed prior to the review being tables to the club. One might have thought the problems were mainly at senior level rather than junior.

Interesting news. Are those sackings a consequence of the review process or incidental management decisions for the lower grades?

Rumours were around most the season that the U18's coach was moving on. Not sure if he was sacked or left on his own devices, strange if sacked seeing only 2 seasons ago they lost a G/F after the siren, had a pretty youngish list this season and blooded alot of new kids and after a slow start only just missed the finals. I had heard he wanted more family time and was possibly talked into continuing for this season

No idea re the U16's coach

The Under 18s coach was certainly at the Reserves Qualifying Final as a spectator. Would have he been there if he was going to quit? Maybe, maybe not.

For some reason I just imagined Greg Edwards, Jack Newton and the late Ollie Milburn playing a game of I spy.

Aye aye, except Bohdan keelhauled himself earlier this year, still a barnacle on the bow of the footy club though.
