Sturt has lost a key midfielder through injury for its match against Central on Saturday.

Former Crow Aidan Riley will miss at least three weeks with a hamstring strain, ensuring he is an omission from the Double Blues’ 23-man squad.

His likely replacement is McDonald’s SA U18 onballer Mitch Crowden, who racked up 25 disposals and a goal in the Reserves last round.

Crowden is one of three inclusions, including key defender Rune Gilfoy and utility Joel Thiele, who have all been added to the extended interchange bench.

North Adelaide will unveil young ruckman Jordon Sweet against the Eagles on Saturday.

From Tea Tree Gully FC, the 19-year-old measures in at a sizeable 200cm and 101kg and will replace injured first-choice bigman James Craig, who has a groin ailment.

Sweet has been joined in the 22-man squad by veteran wingman Leigh Ryswyk, who was unavailable last weekend due to being interstate.

Norwood will be strengthened by the return of two experienced players for its contest against Adelaide on Sunday.

Former Crow Lewis Johnston, a late withdrawal last Saturday, has returned to full forward while premiership utility Ed Smart has recovered from a hamstring strain.

Smart is one of five players named on the extended interchange bench, together with impressive BankSA Rookie Chris Olsson.

Olsson, from Tea Tree Gully FC, kicked a goal and looked impressive on debut as he resembled retired Redleg Josh Donohue in the No.37 guernsey.

Jono Beech, Harry Dear, Matt Signorello, Jordan Gallucci, Kyle Cheney and untried Ben Davis have all been called upon, with the latter playing his first Macca’s League game after battling a foot injury this year.

Development squad player Ryan Marini (21, 186cm and 83kg) has also been named on the extended interchange to potentially make his Macca’s League debut.

Elliott Himmelberg has been sidelined by a foot injury while Alex Keath has been called up to make his AFL debut in the Crows’ blockbuster against Geelong on Friday night.

Joey Brown and Damon Hill have been sent back to their local clubs.

Sturt to prevail over the Bulldogs in a close 'un. Rune Gilfoy to get a run purely on the basis of his name and will dominate, in which Roy Laird will admit post-match that 'we've been runed!'

The Eagles to account for North, who'll probably go down in an honorable loss after playing three quarters of good footy. Debutante Jordan Sweet finally gets a chance, and will win the hit-out count leaving a sour taste in the Eagles mouth (beak?).

South to stop the Bloods' winning run in another close one, a couple of key outs for Westies swinging it in the Panthers' favour. It'll be level up to lemon time, then Bates will catch Crabb midway in the last, forcing a turnover that changes momentum but tastes horrible.

Norwood to knock off the PoSAs in another tight tussle. Attending Crows fans will receive a complementary set of industrial strength earmuffs to prevent permanent hearing damage from the complimentary titanium strength drum-kits that Norwood fans will receive upon entry. Also, if played in the ruck, Pinyon might steer the Crows to victory.

Power reserves to avenge last week's loss and comfortably knock off the Bays. Look out for Martini from the Bays, though. Cops some ribbing for his surname, he's often stirred but never shaken.

I find it hard to see Glenelg getting within 15 goals of the power reserves. Would be roughly 800 AFL games played in the opposition.

No I didn't and I picked us in the tips. Round 1 is like no other and can not be relied on as a guide for the rest of the season.

It's a lottery to be honest. We've done well in patches at Unley recently but haven't got the choccies. Roll the dice Roy, Fraser Fort full forward, Jack Hannath centre half, and give Butch free reign to go wherever the hell he wants. Take some grabs and splatter packs (Luke Cowan style), and get the smalls underneath. I reckon we should've done similar with Heath Lawry in the past on smaller grounds. To be honest I don't reckon we'll get up but if we play like North did against Norwood last week and if in doubt slam it forward to a contest we might have a sniff.

Well instead of trekking up to that shithole, where your attendance will be counted as attendance for garbage teams, and every beer you buy will support an entity which does not pay to maintain its presence in the SANFL... why not pop in to the GFC clubrooms for a few quiet ales? You can bask in the knowledge that every beer you buy feathers your own mob's nest and not an AFL mob which doesn't need it.

I think so, we normally play well against South and have a bit of momentum ATM

I won't be tipping us, but don't think we are without a chance at Alberton tomorrow. We won there last year, and Port are extremely hot and cold this season in spite of their low injury list. Before last week we had come off a couple of real ordinary efforts against Centrals and Norwood, but last week was much more like the Glenelg from the first few weeks of the season.
