Just received North's financials by email (in fact, mine was addressed to '[Firstname]').

Not sure if other clubs have posted their results from last year (apologies if missed), so thought I'd dedicate a new thread to it.

Profit of $375,420, an increase from $322,547 last year. Debt down to $2.10 million, down from $2.58 million last year.

Another pokie premiership for the Chooks, the dynasty continues.

Eagles $57 000 loss between football club and Eagles club in 2016. Down from over $300 000 loss in 2015.
Zero debt.
SANFL Footy Park payment used to upgrade facilities in Eagles Function Centre eg fridges, sound system, air conditioning etc and at 722 bistro on Port Rd.

From an email:

(Sturt FC) has posted a $715,000 operating surplus, the largest in the Club’s history.

What an incredible result by the Sturt Football Club. Congratulations to all involved. I understand that $250k was a result of the SANFL payment, but nevertheless, this is a remarkable turnaround and great credit must go to Sue Dewing (in particular), Jason Kilic and the board. Other clubs will be looking to emulate the great SFC both on, and off, the field!

Well done to all at SFC, that's $1.2m profit over three years. To put this in perspective, 2016 profit is almost $500k more than what PAFC have posted over the last two years.

How does one SANFL club turn such a huge profit while 4-5 others struggle to break even?
I know you'll all say a good business model with strategic planning.....etc etc. but crowds at Unley haven't increased and are no bigger than the Eagles or Norwood.
Any Sturt followers know?

Sturt cut back their expenses to the bone, because they had to if they were going to survive. They are efficient with the money for the sake of preserving their existence. They were gone in December 2012 otherwise.
They rely on volunteers in areas where some clubs have paid employees or contractors (eg cleaning) How sustainable this is longer term is debatable, but they have had no choice. Things might change as the finances improve.
But I think like all SANFL clubs actually growing their revenue base is a huge challenge, even if they do have a relatively strong support base.
Their attendances have been nothing outstanding but it highlights the struggle SANFL is going through.

Some Sturt supporters will deny this until the cows come home but a large sum of money was bequeathed to them by a supporter in recent years. Obviously they have wisely used this money to get a financial result this year.

The Mighty Tiger finances due to the AFL reserves has taken a hit.

I've been reliably informed by the most senior manager at the Sturt Football Club that the only large financial gift received by the club in the last 20 years was at the time we were in discussion to merge with North Adelaide (mid 90's). This is what allowed us to remain in operation. I was asked to request of anyone knowing of any other monetary gift, be it via cash, cheque, EFT or money order to please contact the club with details as they fear they may have misplaced or, worse still, lost this previously unknown and most generous contribution.

Personally, I say to heater31, whoever you are, stop posting inaccurate information or provide us with the details. This site is full of enough rumours, lies and mis-information without you adding to it!

It's clear to everyone else that this result has been achieved through the tireless hard work and smart business practices of the board and management.

If such a large sum was in fact bequeathed, then surely there must be a record of how much and from whom?

Sorry, you missed the sarcasm of that comment. They are saying categorically that there has not been, other than the bequest mentioned, any other sizeable gift of money.

Of the $250,000 distribution by the SANFL to clubs was that also to the AFL clubs port and Crows as well. If so WHY?
