2015 Premiership Standard

Have attached some reading material for today given the strange phenomenon of having no SANFL on a winter Saturday, so I ripped off the Fox Footy AFL version of the Premiership Standard - it compares the SANFL premiers of the last 10 years with how teams are tracking this year by means of scoring for/against limits.

In a nutshell, the premiers of the last 10 years have averaged over 94 points for and less than 70 points against in their years of triumph. No team this year achieves those figures, but West Adelaide is quite close (92 and 70).

* A disclaimer/warning like with all the things I post - it contains a high level of colour and rubbish. Make of it what you will.

I'd plonk money on South* for 2016 - they are the closest to premiership standard using that criteria than anyone else

*And you are looking good if you got better odds on them before

I've got them at $13, but hard to go past the Eagles I reckon

I really hope the Panthers win the premiership but their record is so poor I wouldn't back them with stolen money

Sturt look vulnerable on big grounds so South/Eagles GF looks like the favorite at the moment.

Unley Oval is closer in dimensions to Adelaide Oval than Woodville and equal in difference as Noarlunga.

Sturt will be the best supported club in the finals, should have some key players fairly well rested and are still well placed to peak at the right time of year. They are still a very serious premiership contender imho.

Agree on the Eagles v South GF comment...

But Sturt beat Central at Elizabeth back in Round 16...

I think they are more being exposed for a lack of depth and have had a good run with injuries at the start of the year...

Their 2's are bottom and their mid-tier players aren't at the same quality as the Eagles and South, in my opinion...

Eagles v South Grand Final and 'Go Panfers' !!!

I watched a fair bit of the Sturt/Central game and while Sturt won they were far from convincing.

Sturt are in the fortunate position where they cannot drop out of the top 3 and lose the double chance. This gives them 3 weeks to clean up their injury list, a must if they are to avoid going out in straight sets imho. Others would know far more than me about the prospects of their injured players, but they are certainly vulnerable depth wise. Eagles South for me too, but I think this year the Eagles will get it done.
