WEST
West Adelaide could elevate Under-18 All-Australian Riley Bonner for Sunday’s contest against Adelaide at City Mazda Stadium.
Bonner, who measures in at 187cn and 75kg, is originally from the Goodwood Saints and has been added to the extended interchange bench.
‘’Riley is a very exciting player,’’ West football manager Andrew Marks said.
‘’He’s a left footer who is a fantastic kick and is even a nice kick on his right foot which is quite rare.’’
Another possible debutant, key position player Ben Klemke, has also been added to the Bloods’ 23-man squad while improved midfielder Josh Schiller has recovered from a minor ankle ailment.
Likely AFL draftee Aaron Francis is the only omission at this stage, with the talented utility to spend the next month with his school team, Prince Alfred College.

West should still get the job done here, a Crows win would really help us out but cant see them getting up. West by 2-3 goals

Come on Westies. Crush the interlopers.
The bloods a potential Grand finalist for me, to take out Adelaide reserves by 15-20 points

Adelaide with no top up players in their starting 18 and have two AFL listed players on the bench. Luck if the draw. Reckon Adelaide to win by plenty. That centre line would have been the centre line in the Crows AFL at some stage over the past year.
Aaron Francis to miss for West because he has to play for his college. Crazy!

What's that figure in between what I assume is the draws/byes column and the premiership points column? Some sort of bizarre equation.

17 games in a season now is it?
Was still 18 last time I checked.
Would be very doubtful the Ravens will win all 6 remaining games no matter how many AFL listed players they have, they dont like the hard stuff

The Ravens lol. As if calling themselves something other than "Reserves" makes them anything other than their reserve team
I guess on that basis the SANFL reserves should be renamed.
Glenelg reserves can become Glenelg Ocelots
South become South Pumas
West become West Pitbulls
Centrals become the Pugs
North become the Mallards

the Ravens my 4rse

The Ravens is a name applied by SA Footy circles John, not anything official from the AFC.

The AFC originally floated the idea of calling them the Ravens.

It's in their school contracts. If he doesn't play its possible he could be suspended. Kid needs to finish high school for life after football. Its a pain but thats just hiw it is.

The College Football situation is a disgrace but as far back as I can remember it's always been the case that kids have been required to play for their College ahead of their club. Ridiculous but sadly nothing new.
On the game, I think Adelaide will be too strong. Finally have cleared the injuries that ruined their first half of the season. West have been found wanting against good opposition lately, fell a fair way short against Port and the Eagles and I don't think are actually travelling all that well. Crows by 5-6 goals.

Still beat your mob easily

I do agree that our form has not been great.
Francis has a scholarship so he felt he should do the right thing by PAC.

Yes, certainly put us away in the last quarter and a half of that game, no doubt.

That's the main point, Francis has a Scholarship and is getting his school fees paid for at a very expensive college. He knows part of this is he will be required to play their big games against the other big colleges and interstate colleges.
Everyone knows this rule, so why complain about it every year when it happens. The colleges have to get something back for their money.
It is a special time in a Year 12's life, and they all look back and say how much they enjoy playing with their mates from school in these big games. He will get plenty of time to play SANFL and get drafted to AFL next year!
