NORTH
North Adelaide’s blooding of debutants will continue on Sunday with Callum Wilkie to play his first league match against Central at Prospect Oval.
Originally from Walkerville FC, Wilkie is a 189cm, 84kg utility who can play at either end of the ground. The 19-year-old was a member of the McDonald’s SA Under-18 squad last year.
‘’Callum has good aerial skills and competitiveness,’’ North football manager Darryl Wintle said.
Wilkie has been joined in the Roosters’ 23-man squad by midfielders Max Thring, George Thring, Alex Spina and Jesse O’Brien and ruckman Mitch Curnow.
Curnow will replace injured bigman James Craig (groin) while Kahlin Santillo (knee) and Michael Virgin (hamstring) couldn’t be considered.
Forward Nick Dinham was sent back to the Reserves, where he will be joined by Bob Quinn Medallist Jay Shannon.

That's a reasonable line-up for the Dogs.
Be nice if Retzy was in, but...

Should be a win for us.

North cant take a trick with Craig who is a decent ruckman out with a groin strain - that will help greatly as one of our real deficiencies is ruck.

Our other problem is the Forward line, and without Retzy its a bit of a worry. You can depend on Goody and Edmead for a couple but the rest are hit and miss. Of course their job is not helped by the often terrible forward entry passing.

The last time we played North we scored 18 goals, 6 by Stevens and 3 by Retzlaff. Since then Stevens has not done much although he did kick a goal last week, and of course Retzlaff is out. I think North were at their lowest ebb last time and playing at home the scoreline flattered us. Our backline is playing well and I can't see North kicking a big score, but unless we have someone firing like the last time we beat North, I cant see us kicking a bagful either.

Centrals by 20.

As a north fan, I hope you are correct.... Interested in your opinion on young Presbury. I have not seen him play footy, does he go ok.... Is a chance to be drafted?

All you have to do is look at the Injury list for North and see what has happened. They caned the coach, not getting the message out blah blah but really what the hell can you do when your team is totally decimated with those outs. Centrals on the other hand only has 3 injuries.

Young Elvis - yes he does go ok, a nice find. Kicked a good goal last weekend, finds the footy, gets in an under, good balance and pretty decent skills. Poor bugger has the same hair style as Trav Schiller and gets stats taken away from him. As for getting drafted, I cant see it only because of height etc. but really I have no idea when it comes to the AFL.

Milera, another first year player possibly.

I don't get to the Roosters games due to other footy commitments, so I am far too far removed to really know the circumstances re the coach etc. Yes injuries hurt any club, and when there is that many, it doesn't matter who you are.... if you just don't have the available talent.

No shame in NOT getting drafted to the AFL, and carving out a solid SANFL career. We probably don't see that much anymore, as soon as a few $$$ get flashed around... they take off. I played a bit of cricket with his old man.... he had the dodgiest ankles I've ever seen... hope that's not something he has passed onto the lad!

As a CDFC fan, I am hopeful and suspect he won't get drafted.
As someone who wants to see people try to achieve their best, I am hopeful he gets drafted.
It's an interesting position we SANFL fans find ourselves in with this sort of thing.

Agree 100% with you here.... it's a double edged sword in that respect. I think we realise that the "jets" will go, so you need to look after & hold onto the "good ordinary players"....

Will be close at the start, but Centrals to break away after the 5-minute mark to win comfortably...

Ha! :D Luckily Presbury wears bright blue boots and Schiller wears white ones because they look so god damn similar.
