The big ANZAC Day eve Grnad Final re-match sees last year's Grand Finlaists do battle at Adelaide Oval...

Norwood, obviously coming off a huge loss to the Eagles, will be keen to atone for last week, while the Magpies will be lookign to continue their winning start to the year but may have a few changes to their side due to possible suspension and AFL call-ups...

League @ 7:10pm

Reserves @ 4:35pm

Game will be broadcast on 7Mate from 7:00pm...

Wet and windy Friday night at AO, I still think a crowd of 4000-5000 will head down there.

Mind you, live on FTA might see a few stay home if the weather closes in.

Port to dish out the Legs 2nd thrashing in 2 weeks
Disgrace this game isn't being played on ANZAC day. How many years of tradition wiped away for the AFL?
Sadly Port Adelaide Reserves to continue their unbeaten start by 8 goals

Nothing to do with the AFL JTC, its a myth that the Grand Finalists play each other every Anzac Day, I can remember at least a dozen times since the early 80s when it hasn't occurred. I've been to many more Anzac Day games not involving a GF replay.

How does the AFL have anything to do with it?

Ports AFL side play Saturday night, Adelaide on Sunday afternoon, so this match could be played Saturday afternoon if it was scheduled for then.

Tradition sold out by a club that supposedly is all about tradition. After all the chest beating surrounding Adelaide wearing a version of the state jumper last year, this sellout franchise walks all over an SA ANZAC tradition of many many decades. As long as Port get what they want everyone else can go get ******. Piss weak.

Not my understanding Boon, was led to believe Norwood wanted the game Saturday arvo at the Parade but Port requested their reserves not play the same day.

Oh dear, lets blame Port or the AFL for 2004, 2000, 1999, 1997, 1996, 1994, 1993, 1992, 1990, 1988, 1987, 1986, 1982, 1976, 1971, 1965, 1962, 1957, 1877-1955 also.
Tradition my arse.
Its only a tradition that the Anzac Day game is occasionally a replay of the GF and more so a tradition this century rather than the previous 2.

From my understanding and discussions with a CEO the fixturing for home games rests just about solely with the home club, I doubt Port had any influence.TV can be a major influence too.

Only really since 2001 that the previous years' grand finalists have played ANZAC Day every year

2000 - Norwood v Sturt
1997 - Port v Norwood
1996 - Port v West & North v WWT
1994 - Port v WWT & South v Sturt
1993 - Port v Sturt & South v North
1992 - North had the bye

Edit: 2004 no games on ANZAC Day, but Power v Western Bulldogs

Only a tradition this century, but a tradition nonetheless.

Most of the time, but not in this instance mate. Jims correct that we wanted a home Saturday game, but the SANFL denied it. Port did Norwood a favour though by claiming this one as a home game, so Norwood could retain the gate for a game v Port later in the season.

Your points are valid though, Anzac Day grand final re-match hasn't been a consistent tradition.
