Serious question: Do Port Power train on Alberton?

Just saw the picture, it looks like Unley Oval on a wet August day in the fifties.

Is this is in answer to my question Doc?

If it is I would find it highly unlikely Port Power would risk injury and let their AFL stars train on a poor surface

Yes and yes. The surface is ten times better tan what we used to play on and is well above average.

I was told his ankle went pop! It also had nothing to do with the awful surface they played on, that surface was worst then most SAAFL grounds. Players I was talking to after the game weren't happy with the uneven surface.

Awful surface?? Whatever drugs your taking have well and truly ****** your brain!

Some players I spoke to after the game. 1 played in the ressies and other one played in the league were surprised how bumpy it was. Apparently they were working on the oval before the reserves. When I walk across it, I thought I was in the parklands. From afar it looked great not until you walked on it.

Go home, you're drunk.

Alberton Oval for a long, long time has been one of the best surfaces in the SANFL and since becoming the training facility for the AFL side has been nothing short of exceptional. Not sure what park lands you frequent mate, but they must be bloody lush.

"Bumpy" describe these "bumps" mate, were they 3-5mm high or 8-10?

I got there in the 3qtr of the reserves. The reserves player said 'they were poking holes around the ground before the game'. When I walked on it after the league it was softish under foot. Especially in front North bench it was bumpy.

"Poking holes around the ground before the game" - Yes mate, we love our sacred piece of turf. We love it lots.

If you want to complain about standards of surfaces, then please call the Onkaparinga council and complain about the Hickinbotham Oval Surface. That is a disgrace for the 2nd tier football in this country.....

Strong interest in an AFL reserves match again, half this thread is about the oval the game was played on!

According to the Advertiser today there was no crowd too.
Maybe they counted the people in turquoise's IQ instead?

Played on there a number of times during the '80s - was outstanding ground, drained so well.
Was always considered 2nd only to Footy Park in terms of drainage - rarely a 'bog', even the cricket pitch (when PACC played there in those days) used to be pretty dry. 'Grazes' were likely because it dried so well.

The 17s & 19s Finals were always played there too - along with Richmond.

I would be surprised if the surface wasn't even better these days due to PAPs training ground.

Think the criticism might be a little 'off', don't you think?

Stupid, but I also think umpires should keep out players faces.

But didn't he approach the umpire?

I understand why Moore did what he did but making contact with an umpire, when not by accident during game time, is just not on...

Moore had a few team-mates flanking him, including Paul Stewart who had a bit to say to umpire Craig Fleer, as well...

If Moore wanted to express his frustrations as to what was happening to him, he could have easily used Stewart to show what was happening...

I understand that in the heat of the moment and due to his frustration he wanted to express to the umpire what he was frustrated at...

But, the manner in which he went about it was not only wrong but certainly not a good look, especially when being broadcast on television...

I think the MRP will suspend him so that it sends a strong message to the competition, and in general, that contacting an umpire is not acceptable...

Will be interesting to see the outcome of the hearing this eveining...
