was it really due to this? or the fact that the season is now shorter in terms of weeks, and that it would be a bit silly to have a season start 5 weeks after the afl (or whatever it is)

You have to ask why the season was shortened ..

Of course the changing of our fixture to commence finals earlier than the AFL was the driving force, because it better suits the AFC and PAFC. You only have to look at the marketing of Norwood v Port in Round 1, with the game being brought forward a day so that it was the only top flight game in the nation and could be showcased, according to the SANFL. Well didn't we have that with our biggest game of the year for donkeys?

Should have just left it as a 21-game season.
When it was, the scheduling around AFL finals was not an issue and there was a good amount of exposure for the SANFL GF due to the AFL season ending the week before.
Now the scheduling for our finals is a mess, and our GF will no doubt get lost in the AFL finals hype.

You are a strange one Benny

You answer Cutterman's post by calling whoever, but presumably those complaining about the finals clash, whingers then "like" Aerie's reply to it. :?

I think that will depend on whose playing in it Mic.
If it's the Power Reserves up against Norwood then I'd expect plenty of hype and a big crowd. All those that decided to let the Reserve teams in will be praying Port get there I'd imagine. The fact that a Reserve team from another competition was playing in their, the SANFL, comp would be a point totally lost on them.

Those African-Americans seeking equality in the 60s, bloody whingers.
Suffragettes, bloody whingers.
National league teams airing their thoughts on having sides in the SANFL for years before it happened, bloody whingers.

Stop projecting! You'll go blind.
As for your whinging term. I think supporters have every right to express concern if this was to happen AND feel duped if it does. Not that any supporter had any choice in this farce but it was never pointed out that our finals were going to be farmed out to the Burbs at the last minute all because of the lack of foresight of the f***witts running the comp, those prostituting the comp and the possibility of two AFL home finals.
I'm sure Benny if Adelaide were to have a home final moved interstate due to an AFL whim you'd be whinging also.
But I'm stating the obvious. AFL supporters have got the patent when it comes to whinging in this state.

Lol at equating reserves teams in the sanfl to civil rights. Wow.

And btw I was generally saying you can put up a decent argument too.

i seem to remember quite the furore when the crows were denied a home final some years ago. something to do with a deal the AFL had with the MCC to guarantee at least 1 prelim final or something?? but thats completely different of course.....

I knew you'd draw that line. I'm not saying they're the same.

You, aerie, and quite a few others actually put constructive arguments across, and there is nothing wrong with you guys.

I was more referring to the other mouth breathers that somehow turn something like this into the fault of the afl clubs.

nice to know i am a mouth breather, whatever that is. (i actually thought you might be above insults benny :( )

btw it is the afl reserves teams fault. they wanted the finals moved, the other clubs didnt, and in fact were told it wouldnt happen (or at least they told their supporters it wouldnt, i clearly remember being told that at the north info night) the afl clubs raised it during the whole "negotiation" period before they were accepted to the league.

it really needs to be reverted next season. write the whole thing off as a failed experiment. if the reserves clubs dont like it they are free to leave any time.....

Well you aren't one either :)

But seriously this has more to do with the sanfl than anyone else. They were the ones that scheduled the season not the crows.

I think moving the season to 1 week later, even though that means it clashes with afl grand final week, would be the way to go
