Enjoyed the game - a better standard than I have seen this year at SANFL level so on that basis alone I disagree with comments re the irrevelance of this fixture. Certainly both teams worked hard & played for the guernseys - and good on the SA boys for showing some character to come from behind in the last qtr and preserve the thread of dignity that remains for our comp.

Yeah, we looked gone mid way thru the final quarter. Did well to get five of the last six majors. A high standard game, especially the first half.

I thought the SA boys played pretty good team footy given they wouldn't haven't been together long and thought we had a little too much class for the Vics.

Wundke the standout for mine, was a man amongst boys down there.

Phil Cleary former VFA legend , really sad to hear him toe the company (AFL) line. Years ago he would have been as anti AFL as they come.
Chris Davies grabs were vomit inducing.
The game itself was entertaining as a contest, too bad Einstein was in charge of what the umpires wore

Ruck strategy didn't pay off, Webb's form has been less than impressive all year and Brooksby is a undersized as a genuine ruck. Should have played Kurtze or Bauldetstone to actually square up he hitouts

Ryswyck 's form also held up

They're dumb, but were dumber.
These games really needs to be pissed off.
Can't complain though, allowed people like me to enjoy a great rugby game on TV instead of spending hundreds at a SANFL venue.
Would any other business give up tens of thousands of revenue to lose money on a junket that hardly anyone cares about?
Nice work SANFL.

True but how much do the SANFL clubs save in not having to pay player wages this weekend

About 3000 at that game wasnt it?
Surely that would impact on the attendence

3000 only turned up because I bet the MCG game is a sellout.

I attended a Collingwood v Bendigo game at Victoria Park with a similar attendance in 2010. All attendees I spoke with were only attending that game because they didn't have a ticket to the following day's game at the MCG for ANZAC Day

I think todays game was at Punt road so I know plenty were going to watch the VFL and then walk the 100m to the G afterwards.
I think Richmond members are free and Essendon members were $5

Using that philosophy we should never play a game. Better to make money when games are on and players are paid than lose money on weekends like this. Common sense.

State footy or representative footy has been going on for years . It rewards the best players in a competition to play against another similar competition.

They still playing the SFL V GSFL ( or HSFL at times ) aren't they ? Ring and get that stopped ,the Winies are losing heaps !!

Good game of footy . Saw no throwing back to go forward............

The point is still slightly valid in that are walking having an extra game in the season (which mean larger salary cap which obviously each club can't afford) or are we talking a punt condensing the season by a week
