Glad to see Raymo get it. Super consistent, and hardly screwed up. Good to see that sort of player isn't missed by whoever gets to vote.

Congrats to Raymond. Also good to see Goofy get recognized. Unfashionable, but rarely beaten.

Well deserved to Raymond!
Not taking anything off him but with the way the game is played today, if your backpocket wins the B&F, your midfield needs a major overhaul  , and the coach to stop being in denial and literally throwing the toys out of the coaches box because his midfield keeps getting it's pants pulled down against the better sides :o

Todd Miles was awesome, up there as one of the best defenders in the league as well as ruckmen.
Also our acting captain for most of the year.
There's 7 clubs below North and one of the reasons is Todd.

Only saw the GF as far as north games are concerned, but across the season, if he was anything like the GF game then is easy to understand why.

Was easily norths best in the GF IMO.

I would have thought the more appropriate question would be 'what's going on at the Eagles that Todd was told he wouldn't get a League game there'?

I was just stirring the pot a bit :D . He's definately a worthy winner. I have followed his career quite closely given he used to play for Mallala and Hamley Bridge in the Adelaide Plains league. Believe it or not, back then he was a lean, pacey wingman. Its interesting to see how this body shape has changed over the years, and a bit of a shame really, because I think he could have been a much better player if he had not have put on as much bulk and stayed lean.

I don't think that was the case, he left didn't he?? Did North have to cough up for a transfer fee? Not sure.....

Mick Godden sat him down and said his opportunities at League level were going to be limited, at that time...

Not sure about the transfer fee, but I assume one would have been agreed upon...

It was a strange decision. He was the type of depth player you need at the time. We had Parry and it was expected Redden would play mostly for the Eagles. We also had Grieger and Giuffreda in defence, a 3rd of similar type was probably overkill. Miles had a stinker of a final in 2010 and at that time his use was as a 2nd ruck and occasional pinch hit in defence or attack as his skills were average. All was forgiven as we won the 2011 premiership and it looked like a win/win for both parties.

Fast forward to 2012 and with Redden playing for the Power and Parry either suspended or injured for a large part of the season, we have to play our key backman as ruck because there is no one else. Miles develops as a very good defender and blankets Grocke in the Elimination Final - quite ironic, Grocke being North's biggest mistake.

So for season 2013 we recruit Borholm and Kirk. Two very similar players to Miles. Thankfully Borholm looks pretty handy and has improved a lot and Heinjus goes ok as a 2nd ruck. I guess Godden doesn't have the benefit of hindsight, but that decision was a massive win for the Roosters and a big loss to the Eagles.

Well done to Miles. He was a real goer and has improved his skills to become acting captain and best and fairest of a Grand Finalist. I'm sure he'd think moving to North was the best decision he made.

Miles, Kirk, Eddy, Shirley and Blesing are the difference! Recruit better and don't make these stupid error's and we would have been some threat to Norwood!
Ferret would disagree though I'm sure  Apart from Miles, the other 4 were a waste of time, money and effort!

All clubs would have a few dud recruits you could list over the past four years. Rob Shirley is an exception, he returned to his home club to finish his career, he wasn't "lured" home by spending huge money. The others I agree with. On a side note, I think you should not forget how successful the club has been over the past decade. Two flags in seven years aint that bad.... yes there could have been more but hey they must have been doing something right.

I mentioned Shirley because his 2012 season was to play with Cicca and he was on little money, but his previous two seasons after the Candy Crows were with Ainslee for big $.
He missed his chance at a flag for coin, while the club again took the easy option and added a slowish midfielder with average skill and one year left in the tank! Yeh we didn't have any mids like him  Rowntree, Kane, Cicca, Powell and Lewis
That's what we mean by saying lazy recruiting, although ofcoarse the Ferret will disagree

Did either of the Eagles gun recruits Andrew Ainger or Whatshisname Carey crack it for a top 10 finish in the B&F?
