I thought they lost their identity in 1997 when they entered the AFL, after all we always get told that the AFL team is the original Port Adelaide!! So why so much carry on about a team that's not even 2 decades old

Port too good when it mattered, Bays lost their intensity in the last half and Port wanted it more, lot of emotion during the last quarter and after the siren.

Makes me feel sick that these Magpie fans lose their team, Im more disillusioned about the SANFL comp after todays game.

Cheers to Booney, StrayDog, LEH for saying g'day during the match,

I teared up twice after the game. Once calling my sick Port mate, who was too ill to attend, to tell him that his team won. Once talking with Glenelg fans in the club after the game, in an existential debate about what the ******* point is in following a club which is rooted in every possible aspect.

Congrats to thee, Port fans. Your mob showed why it has been the premier club in SANFL for the last 50 years.

Glenelg can go and get ******. Stick your memebrship up your fundament. You voted yes, and you could not beat a zombie club. Next year I will come to watch the occasional home game, and that's it.

20 years of membership down the drain. Up yours, SANFL. Good luck with selling the comp as an AFL reserves league. God knows you'll need it.

Was a scrappy game for the most part, marred by some pretty average skills, especially in the first half. Game lifted in the final term and the crowd came to life. Well done to the Magpies players who lifted when it counted in the final term, and it was especially fitting to see their skipper bang through the last goal of the game.

I liked what Kenny did at 3/4 time, and the scenes after the final siren I wont forget in a hurry.

The magnitude of the "yes" vote really started to sink in today. It'll be a very different Port running around next year, and it's sad that for some supporters today was their swansong. I really fear what may become of the league.

She was good last week at Unley I thought. Perhaps I wasn't paying as much attention today, but I didn't really think the umps in general were too bad.

Was great to catch up with the Snouts again yesterday.
Pseudo, Stampy (as always), Dedja, Dirko & the rest :D

Also to meet & discuss footy with 'footy people' Matt & Craig - you can't get that at the Crows.

Port were always going win the game, weren't they?
More emotion & to play for.

Bays aren't that bad, actually. Reckon they have some good kids by the looks.

Was an interesting afternoon at the footy. As cast of SA Footy's who's who, almost too many to mention.

Centurion and Weslo again meet early in the day.

To the game, it was pretty scrappy at times and during the second and third quarters I thought the Port boys may have put the cue in the rack. A couple of 25m penalties for back-chatting the umpires, easy goals to the Bays and I was a little worried. Then the Bays started playing like the goal posts were out on the wings, what were they doing? Have you blokes done that all year?

Whether it fired the boys up or not the coach Ken McGregor (Not Tony Bamford as the Budget had listed-WTF?) took the Port boys to the Northern Goal square in front of the cheer squad and the bulk of Port people there on the day. (On a side note, anyone know the crowd?)

The Port boys responded with a fantastic last quarter topped off by skipper Big Jim kicking the last goal on the run in front of the Snouts Bar. I'm sure the lads up there enjoyed the third game this year of the Magpies taking back the lead in the last quarter.

Pretty emotional scenes with some hard old Port Adelaide people having tears in the eyes. I thought of my dearly loved Great Aunty Yvonne who, along with my maternal Grand-father instilled the Port Adelaide club into my heart. Just like me, I dont know what they'd be thinking or feeling.

Go you Magpies!
PAFC. Forever.

LOOK OUT, WE'RE COMING!

Great post.
