Poor crowd to be honest. I'd be surprised if it was over 2800.

On the balance of play, Port should have stitched up the game by half time.
To prove thats the only stats that matter is the scoreboard: Port had 111 more possessions, 93 more marks, 6 more inside 50's. Butcher butchered the ball in front of goals, with Port missing many simple set shots in the 2nd and 3rd quarters especially.

Always good to win a Alberton, especially when we were below our best today. Was impressed by our young players today in Anderson, Poynton and Rankine.

If you get the chance to watch the highlights in the Recovery session during the week, look for Daniel Caires attack at the marking contest in the magpies forward line moment before the siren. Finally, to any supporters that doubt Ryan Fergusons attack on the footy, he showed today why he is one of the best leaders and most valuable players in the comp.

Listening to the broadcast the game had real atmosphere and a real sadness. Crowd gave the Magpies chant as the players left the arena. Hard to imagine that it is gone.

Great stuff by Life FM. Caught the after game as I hopped into the car leaving Woodville Oval and it was great, if not sad, radio. Even though I was only 9, I remember the feeling on the ground at Adelaide Oval on September 8, 1990 and that feeling came flooding back listening to the "Cheer, Cheer the black and the white" being sung by the Port supporters. The result on the day is irrelevant. The fact is for hundreds of die hard Magpies their winter weekends won't be the same any more.

Why? If it was not for the PAFC in 1990 and the forced introduction of AFL Football to SA in 1991 then things in the present day may have been different?

End of 1996 and the fact the 9 clubs including the Magpies agreed to having no PAFC presence in the SANFL from 1997 onwards only for the weak willed Commission then to over rule the league have we got the present debacle! Even a forced change in the SANFL Constitution to give power to the League Directors after that over rule hasn't saved the SANFL re the recent 6-2 vote!

As sad as it is (please insert "crocodile tears" here) the day of the Magpie has well and truly gone!

Such an emotional day today. The lap around the boundary was a nice touch by the reserves. Seeing Robbie Young leading the team around, tears streaming down his face is something I'll never forget.

The last quarter of the league game was hard to watch. Not for what was happening on the field, but spent most of it with one eye on the time clock holding back tears knowing that everything was coming to an end. Standing out on the oval after the game with the players was something to remember, singing the club song as every second person, be it a supporter or player, was in tears. Wasn't sure how I'd react today, and after the game it all got to me, and was one of many crying unashamedly as we followed the players from the centre circle to the players race. It shows how much the team we all support, no matter who it is, means so much to us.

Great if moving post, no club should be destroyed on an administrive whim.

The reports remind me of going to Adelaide Oval for the Woodville v West Torrens game in the final round of 1990.

So much emotion, knowing something important in our lives was ending.

In the back of my mind was the comforting thought there would be a team to follow in 1991.... and time has shown the Eagles merger to be an overall successful one, stable off field and plenty to enjoy on it.

For the die hard black & white fans there will be a Magpies team to cheer for next year .. but I appreciate the feeling that being the Power reserves side means you are not looking forward to it.
