South Adelaide Senior Coach 2014?

Who are the top contenders to take over the reigns at South Adelaide?

Personally I would like to see either Barry Pilmore or Trevor Potts considered.

Barry Pilmore won multiple premiership with Willunga FC including 6 GSFL flags in a row very recently also was the SA country coach so has coached at higher levels and would have contacts all the state.

Trevor Potts SFL team of the century coach won premierships everywhere he has gone also won a flag coaching South reserves not so long ago.

I know these guys probably won't be considered as they won't be considered high profile enough but they both have histories of success and that is what is needed to change the culture at South. Surely they are worth sounding out for an interview.

Likely to be Collins but I'd hope South will undertake a proper process to ensure they select someone who can give their supporters some hope...

Collins has done well with West but he's no messiah.

Need someone who is in touch with the modern game!!!

Having said that we really need to retain some players that are currently coming out of contract. WE MUST KEEP THEM!!!!!!!

There MUST be better options than Cotton, we dont need any more backward steps.

Collins wouldn't be in my mix either.

Also said that if a full time role is available in Adelaide he would consider it....

Old man Potts never coached a south reserves premiership. Sacked from Norwood just before they came good. Hope we can do much better than that, or we will be doomed or another decade.

Must have been to a Grand Final then certainly has a track record of success though. I would have thought he that South could do much worse then the SFL coach of the century.

If neither Potts or Pilmore are high profile enough then South need to consider making a massive offer to someone like Peter German who has had coach success everywhere he's gone, Tassie, WAFL and VFL it would probably cost them plenty though and most likely would have to be long term as he currently has a development role with the Western Bulldogs and is the VFL coach of the Casey Scorpion believe he was VFL coach of the year last year.

A couple others that could be considered would be:
Gary Ayres has been terrific in the VFL leading a stand alone VFL club Port Melbourne to a premiership and a regular force in the VFL

Mark Williams Richmond assistant and 3 x time VFL premiership coach

All of these guys are quality and would demand a long term contact and a hefty pay check though I'd imagine. But they certainly would be people to bring a change of culture to the club.

My mail is that Darren Trevena may be in line for the job, the other two names mentioned are Andy Collins and Trent Mills.

Trevena was not renewed at Port and went to Brisbane as a junior development coach and held the role until the end of 2012 when he was let go not because of form but because of cost cutting measures. Was highly regarded with the junior players at Brisbane and is likely a good candidate for the role at South.

Has to be Collins. If he can do for South what he did for West then the SAFC has a great base to progress from there.
Get respect back first and build from that.
This appointment is probably the most important since 1964 and South really do need to make the right choice.
No more excuses just do it and change the culture at this under performing club.

Kym Cobb is a very under rated coach! He is the man to take the club forward...

So the other coaching appointments for the last 40 haven't been? Over dramatic much.
