How many did you have Wundke down for today Scott? SANFL site claims 5 goals, but I swear one of those was actually kicked by Eddy in the 2nd term, following a relayed free kick. I could be wrong though..

It is not just a mathematical possibility, but totally realistic, for the 3rd-placed team in the Reserves to miss the finals.

On ladder position and W/L alone, 6th-placed Glenelg should beat 8th-placed Port (leaving aside the emotion associated with it possibly being the Magpies 2s' last game ever as a SANFL reserves side). Then 5th-placed Centrals just have to roll 2nd-placed Sturt (not as hard as it sounds, given there's only one win between them). If those results transpire, then the loser of 3rd Norwood vs 4th North will be the only one of the gang of 5 clubs fighting for spots between 2nd-6th stuck on 10 wins (the rest will all have 11), and will miss the finals!

Nice handicapping, whoever organised this. Someone sat down at the start of the year and set it up, right?

That's what Champion Data had too but the SAFC's goalkicker's list excluded him and had Eddy down for one and they tend to be accurate. The vision of the match on the Recovery Session didn't have it either.

Seems like I'm going to have to buy yet another DVD off the SANFL to resolve this. This has definitely been one of my more expensive stat-keeping seasons!

I haven't heard anything yet but would suspect we'll hear something soon.

Without seeing the vision from what I understand the Eagles kicked 4.0 in the second term but when the goal umpires conferred in the middle at half time and after some confusion they settled on a score of 3.1.

The list of scores from the second term as recorded by Champion...
Q2 00:23 J.Firns (WWT) Goal NOR by 22 34 - 12
Q2 04:08 J.Gray (NOR) Goal NOR by 28 40 - 12
Q2 08:12 S.Edwards (NOR) Goal NOR by 34 46 - 12
Q2 14:04 T.Forster (NOR) Goal NOR by 40 52 - 12
Q2 17:59 D.Pfitzner (WWT) Goal NOR by 34 52 - 18
Q2 19:59 D.Pfitzner (WWT) Goal NOR by 28 52 - 24
Q2 23:20 L.Hall (WWT) Goal NOR by 22 52 - 30

To now the SANFL hasn't published the U/18s statistics publicly for the round yet which they normally would have done by now, nor has the Eagles' goalkickers been published on either Sporting Pulse or in The Advertiser.

The SANFL has only in the last couple of seasons been correcting underage scores owing to a spike in mistakes in recording the scores by goal umpires. They have done this at least twice this season already that I know of. Neither affected the result unlike this one, though.

Realised that post may actually be confusing to some without context.

This is the U/18 score as it stands at the moment (and how the above ladder is reflected):

Norwood 5.4 8.4 9.7 10.9 (69)
Eagles 1.0 4.1 6.5 10.6 (66)

But it (seemingly) should be...

Norwood 5.4 8.4 9.7 10.9 (69)
Eagles 1.0 5.0 7.4 11.5 (71)

Has fairly important ramifications on the finals and the Stanley H. Lewis Trophy too.

Wow. Given the standing of Norwood and Port's final round opponents, you'd say that reversal of this result not only could cost Norwood U/18s the double chance, but more likely than not it will.

There's pretty limited precedent (think Freo v St Kilda 'sirengate' in 2006) for changing the result of a match this long after, and at least in the Freo v St Kilda case, both sides knew where their contest was at, i.e. St Kilda knew (correctly) in the dying seconds that they needed a behind to draw and a goal to win. You don't need to be a genius to work out that you play the last 5 minutes of a match (if not more) completely differently depending on whether you think you're a few points down or a few points up. If a scoreboard stuff-up occurs during a quarter, everyone knows that oval scoreboards aren't official, the goal umps' notebook is the only official version, and therefore the onus is on a club's hierarchy to keep track of the true score and if necessary send runners out (or shout out) to the players to let them know if the scoreboard is wrong. None of those arguments apply where the goal umps have signed off a score as being the official score at half-time, and again signed off on an official score at 3/4 time. Any club playing that game is not only entitled to rely on that score as being the official score— they're obliged to, i.e. it doesn't matter if the club's internal score disagrees with it, they're stuck with that as the official version and they're heading for disappointment if they try to play as if it were wrong.

If the rules allow it, fairness would seem to dictate that if the stuff-up is made out, the match is declared a draw. Unless the SANFL wants to invite both clubs to play the 2nd half again some time mid-week, with knowledge of the correct half-time score!

A disgrace if true, I cant see how scores can be adjusted afterwards.
Once the umps sign off that should be it.
Obviously if the score is wrong the Eagles deserve the win but if the mistake was realised earlier both sides could of adjusted accordingly.
Makes the SANFL look even more mickey mouse

That is the way it went down, we at the Eagles are looking into it, the SANFL know of the error also and should be looking at the vision from the game.
