SANFL ANNOUNCES ROUND 23 FIXTURE

The SANFL has finalised its Round 23 fixture, with three matches to be played on Sunday September 8 in what promises to be an exciting finish to the minor round.

Norwood, Sturt and West Adelaide will all host matches on Sunday afternoon while Glenelg will tackle Port Adelaide at Gliderol Stadium in a twilight match at 4.30pm on Saturday September 7.

ABC TV has agreed to broadcast one match on Sunday afternoon as it prepares to screen major round matches each Sunday during the finals series.

Saturday September 7
Glenelg v Port Adelaide (Gliderol Stadium) 4.30pm

Sunday September 8
Norwood v North Adelaide (Coopers Stadium) 2.10pm
Sturt v Central District (Envestra Park) 2.10pm
West Adelaide v Woodville-West Torrens (City Mazda Stadium) 2.10pm

Surely spread them around, 1 Friday night, I Saturday arvo, and leave the Saturday evening game and Sunday game where they are

Has the round 22 fixture been finalised yet?

I think many quite like it when multiple games are on at the same time for the last round of the season, when the matches have implications for finals qualifications/placings.

That would sound more like AFL programming which I thought would be a big no no.

Not programming a game on Sat afternoon, or the more traditional of Night Game spots, Friday @ Norwood Oval, makes sense to me and would maximise crowds for those wanting to go to more than 1 game. Personally I'd rather North was on one of those times instead.

Cheers, the fixture on this site hasn't listed it yet nor the ever impressive ( ) SANFL app.

Given there are 3 games the previous Sunday in Round 22, most wanted the 7 day break for the following week.

ie Norwood would not take a 5 day break to play North on a Friday Night

nor would West & Eagles do the same to have a Friday night game at Richmond.


Must admit over the last two seasons that last round has been quite something with the 5th spot not decided until the final quarter of the final games of the final round.

2011
- 3 games Port v Eagles, South v Norwood and North v Central
- All Port had to do was win, tied at 3/4 time they couldn't
- South came from behind to upset Norwood to get 5th
and North led Central before just falling short.

2012
- Eagles (hosting West) & Glenelg (v South) battling for 5th
- At half time it looked the Tigers with Glenelg leading and Eagles trailing.
- But South stormed home and Eagles won anyway to claim 5th after a 0-5 start.

This year 5th is set but it's hard to see the double chance being sorted before the final games.

Hooray! Spoon day just became spoon evening!

I've still got my spoon Pseudo, some nice Bay fan left it on my car nine years ago.

I'm currently purchasing some nice yellow and black ribbon to make it feel at home with its new owners.

You can drink Cooper's at every home game from your RSL

Would never of been Friday night.
I think Norths opponents in the final the following week have to be given the same ammount of rest days.
Thats why the only meaningless game is played on the Saturday.
All games that have an impact on finals should be played on the same day
