Another loss, wasted season.
Embarrassing crowd wouldn't have been more than 700 people, supporters have had enough!!!!
Ron has to go or 2014 will be another wasted season!!!!!!!!

I think Port won 3 tries to 2, and they kicked a few extra field goals...
Very, very, very ordinary game in equally miserable conditions. One of the smallest crowds I've seen at Noarlunga (official figure anybody?). Defensive, boring football.
Thought South played the more direct footy in the first term but the Maggies had more of the play. The second term and most of the third are a bit of blur (i.e. nothing happened..), with a couple of late goals to South in the third giving us momentum going into 3/4 time. The only goal of the final term came from a Tom Fields blunder from the kick in, when he went to play on only to be caught holding the ball at the top of the goal square. Summed up the game really.
Both teams didn't adapt to the conditions well, struggling to counter the wind that pushed the ball repeatedly to the outer wing.

If what i saw yesterday is the future of the SANFL then bring on the AFL ressies, surely it couldn't be worse or attract a smaller crowd. I understand the poor weather conditions and two teams whose season is over but what i saw yesterday flagged to me the competition as it now stands and it was concerning. Thought both teams toughed it out and gave their best, slightly cleaner skills won the game.

South should use the 50 grand from the Crows and put it towards paying Ron out.
Club needs to hire a coach recently retired from the modern game.
If the club sits on its hands and does nothing we can expect to see our best players leaving the club at the end of the season and that is NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!!!
Really sick of hearing the same old garbage at South (they left for the cash, they didn't want to play for the guernsey)
News flash players want to play in a flag before they retire and the club should be doing all it can to help players achieve this otherwise we will have another player exodus!!!!!! (James Boyd, Craig Parry, Ben Warren all say hello)
If anyone at South thinks having all 3 grades 8th on the ladder is a pass mark for the season then we are doomed to be mediocre forever!!!!!
Crowds will continue to tumble as suppoters / members have had enough of the Fuller Era, 4 years of going nowhere is LONG ENOUGH!!!!!!!

Out of curiosity, how many "AFL" players were involved yesterday? 1 from the Crows (Hartigan at South, nobody from Port). So basically, that's what you will be seeing next year (unless Power come up with something).

I'd like to know how many times (recently), South have sacked their coach because of their inablility to be successful on field. Surely the problems stem from outside the coaching box (not being able to lure players from 'country' footy to the league club?).
Replacing Ron with a recently retired player (Ken McGregor was in the other coaches box) doesn't seem to work in the SANFL overall - they become bogged down in "not losing" when they don't feel they have the cattle on the ground and hence a defensive "boring" mindset ensues.
I've worried about the SANFL for years. The standard that I've seen recently is abysmal.
One issue I believe is that we have full time coaches, coaching full time AFL style game styles with part time semi-professionals (using the term semi-professional loosely) clearly unable to execute that game style. Bassett seems to be in a situation where he has the cattle to more closely execute that game style than the rest.
But perhaps I'm missing something.

Can any South fans tell me why Darcy Hourigan hasn't played more League footy this year? He's been good in the 2's and will be a future star and the development would have been great for him, but why can't he get a gig in a team that struggles for a target outside of Wundke. My only thoughts are that the hierarchy don't want to ruin his mentality by having him play for such a rabble team.

maybe they don't think he has been in good form in the 2's.....

What really concerns me is that Ron is in his 4th year in charge and the club has not developed at all since he took over at the end of 2009.
Our average losing margin for the league team is almost identical to 2009 when we finished last.
Now some might argue he is building the club from the bottom up but given both the reserves and 18's are 8th I dont buy this.
Surely it is the responsibility of the Senior coach to select the best young local talent and develop them. However the only local players to come though and reguarly play senior footy during the Fuller era are Redigolo and Caleb Daniel.
On top of that players have walked from the club which indicates poor man management. James Boyd good enough to play for Central Districts which has a winning culture but we didn't want him at South. Oh and he was a local talent also.

James Boyd spat it when the club let his brother go from the list due to his ongoing knee issues. Really disappointing given the club had sent him and Parry on a club sponsored trip to South Africa only months before.

No I don't think you are, but that's my thoughts word for word, too.

1,287 the crowd according to the paper.

Genuinely thought that was the first crowd under 1000 this season.

All I know is our track record at keeping payers is terrible and this comes down to man management. How many more good players are we going to let leave before something changes???
If Ron is kept based on his performance over the last 4 years then the club is not serious about winning football games!!!!
No way that crowd figure is correct less than 700 easily!!!!!
The 5 year plan has been a complete FAILURE!!!!!!!!

Perhaps one of our most damning stats this year is our ability to either give up big starts or fail to get back into the game. This was the ninth occasion this year where we've not held the lead at any point after quarter time (albeit we were briefly drawing in the last quarter).
The list - Games not leading after Quarter Time
9 South
7 Glenelg
6 Port
4 Eagles
4 Sturt
3 Centrals
3 West
1 North
1 Norwood

I have asked myself over and over this question ....a top under 18 state player and playing great footy in the reserves for us......but ask Ron Fuller ... He knows everything !

I've heard the same thing, maybe South were too embarrassed to put the real attendance figure in the paper so they made up one over 1000.

The SANFL control the gate at every ground bar Centrals from memory. So its the League providing the figures to the media.....
