Have we paid $1m to kill off our own clubs

We seem to have paid $1m to market the Crows and Port, along with South they have had 50% of the coverage. Maybe the fact that South got some advertisers on board for the coverage is why they have also had a fair chunk of the broadcasts. Knowing how media companies work I wouldn’t at all be surprised if that was part of the deal to get Hickinbotham to advertise on Seven.

I know my Club is happy with Ch 7 considering we've sold spots in the actual coverage (Hickinbotham) that we couldn't previously and seen an increase sponsor dollars based on the broadcast.

Yesterday's game had an average audience of 53 thousand. Pretty good considering the game was over by 3 quarter time, so that probably dragged down the average a bit. Would be interested to see the peak audience.

Problem is what value us all this to the 8 SANFL clubs.

Saw my first C7 game Port Reserves v Adelaide Reserves this season
Prefer Channel ABC though
C7 commercials between goals was annoying

The worst part of C7 getting the gig is the complete bending over the clubs have to do to fit into their schedule. Norwood already had a ridiculous 12:30 game early in the season and tomorrow we play a stupid 1:10 game just to suit them

Yep, terrible for the Clubs that they may have had to move forward by an hour considering it's on the main channel leading into the AFL broadcast............ You're a hard man to please Jim.

Its shouldnt be about appeasing the people sitting at home in their lounge. Its about the loyal fans who rock up each week and the extra hour can be a big differance for people who come from the country. Also makes a big differance to the Ressie players who have to be at the ground before 9 for a 10:20am start.

With the Crows playing on Sunday, Aug 31, I'd assume the first week of SANFL finals will have to be played on Saturday? Port playing in Perth that arvo so looks like first week of finals wont be on the main channel.

I seriously hope we dont play Saturday finals. A lot of country footy and ammos on Saturday. Stuff the AFL sides we shouldnt be working around their schedule

I agree Jim about Saturdays, but with the Crows playing St K at AO on the Sunday, and the SANFL finals supposedly being played at AO, I don't see what the other options will be. When you bring your finals forward by 2 weeks there is going to a much greater chance of clashing with the AFL schedules. Wouldn't mind seeing one of them played on a Friday night, but not sure if this could happen. Still think suburban finals on Sundays are the way to go of course..

Yes Sunday suburban footy finals are the way to go IMO

One of the downfalls of bringing the season forward by 2 weeks.

The usual start of the 2nd week of finals meant the whole SANFL finals series could be played on Sunday and never clashed with any AFL games or country/ammo finals. Not to mention getting the October long weekend all to ourselves with all other footy finished.

With Crows and Port playing late Sat arvo (Perth) and late Sunday arvo (Adel Oval) during the first week of SANFL finals I'd like to see the first week of finals start as late as possible on the Saturday.

Saturday
Freo v Port (2:40 our time)
SANFL Elimination Final (4:40 our time)
SANFL Qualifying Final (7:40 our time)

I hope this is the only time 7 use Jars as a special comments man. He is a joke - worse than Ginever and that takes some doing!

What's the name of the f*cktard who does the boundary reports for 7? He's freaking hopeless with zero feel or knowledge of the comp.

Referring to Cohen Thiele as Colin isn't a good look for a so called professional and also leads to unnecessary Storm Boy jokes.

That was North's 2nd, based on the performances dished up against the Cows and today, we don't deserve another
