Rnd 16: Sturt v Norwood @ Envestra Park (Sat 20/6)

After bouncing back into the winners circle, with a solid win over the Magpies, the Double Blues now get to host the Premiership favourites in Norwood with the Redlegs coming off a week's rest with the bye.

Sturt were well served by their kids but also had strong contributions from their AFL listed players as well. They will be hoping they can hang onto as many as possible for this clash on Saturday afternoon.

Norwood will be hard to beat and continue to prove that they are a step above the rest, at this stage. The Legs' last outing was a very emphatic victory over a toothless Tigers outfit on a Friday night at home.

Reserves @ 11:25am

League @ 2:10pm

We use different coloured training cones just to break up the monotony. ;)

This weekend, we're using training cones with two shades of blue. ;)

I can't remember going to a Sturt/ Norwood game, but does it sound weird when effectively the same song is played when each team runs out?

Don't like this ^

Sturt will provide a sterner test than you think.

The first of three crucial weeks coming up, Minor Premiership won't be won in this period but could be lost.

Completely agree SK .. Sturt have been playing well for most of the season, but especially in recent times and are looking harder to beat all the time, especially at Unley.

Legs won't have the luxury of A couple of their AFL listed players I would think this weekend.

Was a game in 2011 when we were in probably worse shape than now and it was a late Simon Phillips flurry that got the Legs over the line on that day but we then put in a stinker at the Parade last year so hopefully a game more like the former than the latter.

Yes it's true. Norwood though are more dangerous these days. Sturt will need to play out of its skin just to get close.

I think you'll find this was last year. Sturt led for most of the day in an absorbing contest played in wet, muddy conditions. Simon Phillips kicked a goal late in the game to seal the deal, after 'soccering' the ball down the South Western flank before picking up and steadying for full points.

Norwood got out of jail the previous week at Richmond also with a goal after the siren from Rodan.

The result knocked the stuffing out of Sturt and we struggled from that point on. I recall Norwood bringing their own umpires that day too which didn't help ;)

Those at the game will also recall a halfwit Norwood 'Spirit' member jumping up on the race at the conclusion of the game and flipping the bird to the home crowd which got everyone pretty fired up.

Norwood would only need to be 1% down on attitude and Sturt could cause an upset at the Dog Turd Palace.
Sturt are not that bad a team and on their day can beat anyone, just not consistent.
Norwood by 4 goals after a hard fight.

Trained ninja baby. Knocked flag boy's eyes out with a nan-chaku blow to the back of the head.

The baby's name was Nathan Bassinet, and was sooking about something, maybe somebody threw it back to its bearded mother with the Norwood flag.......easy mistake to make. Sturt crowd just being helpful.

I believe Bass was sooking because Sheamus wouldn't lend him one of a choice of WOODEN SPOONS so Bass could start baking PREMIERSHIP celebration cakes!!

If it's dry Norwood 50+, if wet 30+.

Go Griggs if true. Would have him right now in the top 2/3 in Norwood's best and fairest.

Who knows how the official people vote, but in the Norwood fans' player of the year voting, I'm pretty confident that he'd be somewhere in the top 1 right now.
