Listened to the whole game. Well grounded out blues. Tambling, Hurley, Kelly, Monty, Martin, coad all good plus graham and kurtze too. Crane with 4 goals was dangerous and back to MM form.

Always great to beat port.

One of those could win/could lose games against a similarly ranked opponent. Port's been causing a few upsets of late so perhaps we were lucky to come away with the points. I had to follow the game via live scores on here and SANFL site, so not much idea beyond the stats on how the game played out.
For all I know we may have fully deserved the win. I was worried right up to the Crocker final goal.

We did well but the game was never really beyond doubt until late.
Tambling arguably his best game for the club as well as Graham, Crane very good and Greenslade, Battersby, Coad and Kane all played well.
Thought Johncock always looked dangerous amongst a relatively inexperienced Port outfit.

Good hard fought win by Sturt, both clubs battled it out hard. Poor crowd which adds to the questionable media hype regarding crowd benefits with AFL reserves teams in the comp. but we all know that to be bullshit anyway.
Really happy to get the points and possibly the last against a true Magpies team.

It's a great credit to Tambling that he approaches every game regardless if it AFL or SANFL, if he gets delisted by Adelaide it will be a shame as he's too good for the SANFL however if Sturt manages to keep him hes a good chance to win a Magarey. Love his attack on the ball and opposition.

Was impressed with Sturt's younger brigade today, especially James Battersby, while veteran Luke Crane was back to his best with 4 goals...

With the Double Blues hosting Norwood next week, Nathan Bassett was an interested on-looker in the crowd. He would have been impressed....

Agree Phil, we've got good depth with our young kids. Won't see Batters after this year but hopefully can retain others. Our development program is working beautifully......for the AFL.

John Greenslade seems seems to get better and better with each game, Harley Montgomery looks to be a calm and poised player, generally using the ball very well while Jack Kelly looks like a real hard nut who wins his own footy well. Guy Page is another, who played well in an enjoyable battle with little Jake Johansen...

Impressive kids at the Double Blues, that's for sure. Like you say, though, you might not see some of them, longer term...

You're right, but its sad when we start acknowledging that figure as good. Well done to Sturt.

Especially when it's between two great rivals, Port on the rise and the current circumstances. Very poor crowd I thought.
Port Maggies Cheer Squad was in good voice though and a good turnout. Well done.

The pro AFL Reserves teams people, as in Rob Chapman, David Koch, etc...
will have to go back to the drawing board with crowd enhancement benefits with AFL teams in the SANFL.
In reality today we had Sturt with their plentiful AFL list against the Power reserves today with a very modest crowd of 2,400 approx people.
A far cry from the 4,000 per game crowd that the AFL clubs are suggesting should attract.

I'll be buggered if that is marketing genius!!

Beenreal, do you think either of the crows or power reserves sides versus sturt would have drawn a bigger crowd?

No idea, thought it was a disappointing turnout from two "heavyweights".

But I'm talking about the comp as a whole, not isolated games. With the Crows playing away this weekend, do I think Crows vs South Adelaide/Glenelg would have drawn bigger crowds? Absolutely.

The comps just going to get worse if Port are gone.
