The game never rose to any great heights today, the heavy ground made it awkward for both teams, Centrals used the conditions better and handled the ball and disposals better than South each quarter.
Bad kicking for goal could have cost South the game in the end, however both teams hit the post a couple of times. Once again South failed to kick a major in a quarter which is hurting them badly, whereas Centrals with good use of the ball around the packs when it came off hands was the big difference in goal scoring. A couple of bounces along the eastern wing by Josh Glenn(I think it was) and a long kick from about 45 meters for a goal put any chance of a South get out of jail card out of reach.
It was disappointing the neither Centrals nor South promoted the Mayors Cup to their membership by email or any other means during the week, I doubt if any of the players knew about it either.
What is the value of building some sort of tradition if both clubs fail to promote it.
Over all Central too good, but only by 1 goal a quarter.

Rained consistently in the first half and Centrals handled the conditions better. Liked what I saw from Potter and Im sure the conditions suited him. Hardy did well despite a lot of attention which was paid in free kicks the other end.
Souths possession's were many with a lot chipping about on the half back line. When they got it moving though they were good, and played some attractive footy at times in the second half.
Well done to all of the supporters that attended despite the black skys to the north. It was a consistent rain in the first half and I have to take my hat off to those South supporters who stuck it out and are normally the best supporters to have a chat with.

We Lost Noble years ago. We just had to accept it. After all, the Crows paid better.
Don't worry, next week you might have a noble victory...

I'll begrudgingly accept another loss as long as the hovercraft and the fire cannon hooch machine make an appearance.
The ground announcer can piss off though.

You're suggesting you've actually made the trip out to Elizabeth Southee.... My information is that you haven't ventured north of Gepps Cross since prior to the turn of the last century...

Was a frustrating game to watch. We did well to match the Dogs around the ball and we certainly had our chances in front of goal, but lacked the same polish as the hosts. Both backlines played well, but the Doggies had more structure/organisation when moving the ball forward. Thought N. Daniel was our best, probably his best game for a season and a half. Hopefully the injury to Eddy isn't too bad, but it didn't look too promising.

South were not that bad today. However Centrals were not that good, in comparison to the wet weather footy we played at west last week, and at home against Eagles a little while back.
Just like last week tho, it was one of those games where a 2 goal lead could be a good enough lead all day. Especially with the size of the oval.
Colquohon once again excellent. Josh Glenn, and O'hara good also.

Losses aren't acceptable but if it's any positive - 24 points is the closest we've gotten to the Dogs at Elizabeth since our last win there in *gulp* Round 2, 1999.
With our lone 1999 and 1991 wins aside, that's the smallest margin we've lost by at Elizabeth since Round 6, 1984. Ridiculous.

To be fair the Dogs have had a pretty decent side for most of that period

2000s, granted. Our record there between 1984-1999, though...
