Round 15 - Glenelg v North - POST MATCH DISCUSSION

North 21.11 137
Glenelg 7.8 50
Thiele 4, Johsnton, Thring 3, Langford, Amato, Shannone 2, Campbell, Gordon, Thompson, Ryswyk, O'Sullivan 1.
Kirkby 2, Tapp, Hill, Hitchcock, Allen, McFarlane 1.
Johnston 29 possessions, Thiele 25.
Button, Scharenberg 22.
Suprised to see the frees were North 14 Glenelg 24 as I thought Glenelg were robbed early.
Weird game with no atmostophere, only 1600 fans there. North played with no ruckman and in most 2nd half ruck contests just let the Glenelg ruck men tap it which we tried to read.

It was a hard game to get into, very little crowd atmosphere and at time the players didn't seem that interested, North turned it on for 5 minutes of the last 1/4, other than that a very lack lustre performance. For most of the day North did just enough to get the job done without really playing that well. I'm with Wedgie, I thought North got the better of the umps earlier (they were pretty crap again all day).

Just wondering which ones, considering I think they got the first 4 free kicks of the game, and a goal.

North got a poor run with the umpires all day.
We didn't play too badly overall considering we only had our ruckman for 10 minutes and a number of key first choice players out injured.
Glenelg....well they are not good and I thought the final result with our outs would have been maybe 6 to 8 goal margin.

Glenelg did get screwed early (how much further down below ground level does Kirkby have to hold a ball for a mark to be paid)?
Glenelg did have the better of the ruck (Lachie Button BOG for the Bays, no question)
But otherwise Glenelg several light years behind North.
Went to the footy with no expectation, no illusions were shattered, I drank a skinfull and said g'day to a whole bunch of Bays folk (of the few who turned up) and a few Northies too. Hooray for beer! Footy is fun again!

Kirkby's wasn't a mark. Watch the replay. Wasn't even a mark in slow motion.
Lachie Button should have been best for the bays. Didn't have an opponent.

Yet correct on other occasions.

This year serves the Bays right for knifing Mickan. He was getting very good results, but couldn't quite go all the way. Massie has come in, gone completely left field like he is Malcolm Blight and rapidly decreased their performance. Massive Karma bus casualty.
