Round 9 - Central v Eagles @ Playford Alive Oval (Sat 1/6)

The Doggies are coming off their 3rd consecutive win (and record breaking 17th consecutive victory over the Panthers) after dropping their first 4 games of the year, but now face a top 3 candidate in the Eagles. They demolished the Tigers last week and are in some good form.

A big test for the Dogs, not only to see where they are at, but for their depth as well, particularly in the key position player department...

League @ 2:100pm

Reserves @ 11:25am

Broadcast Details - ABC TV from 2:00pm

Really hoping we don't lose Callinan and Henderson.

If we do I would like to see Lairdy try something from left field and throw Scotty Dutschke in at full forward. I know he hasnt played their inthe past but he is very strong overhead, has a great lead, good burst speed and will offer a contest at ground level if he can break even and bring the ball to ground

This is the Eagles' best chance of a win at Elizabeth for a while, but then again I said that last year and look what happened. I don't think anyone's surprised at Centrals going from 0-4 to 3-4, but we'll be a bigger test for them than South, Sturt and Port. I think we'll line up against them alright, but I almost never tip against Central at home. Game of the round IMO.

Powell's 200th and Lewis 100th game.
Hope we can produce the result they deserve - a win!

I don't think it is hard for ANY of the other SANFL clubs to get a win over the Dog's underage teams, in the last few years...

Obviously Micky was referring to the League side. I think it was about 2004 or 2006, from memory

No later than 2005. I'm pretty sure it was '04. Apart from South, would that be the longest current drought at Elizabeth? Maybe Port prior to that?

This the game two senior players with milestone games and Eagles haven't won their since 2005 . This is the game the Eagles must win to show they are a top 3 side !!

Wouldn't be surprised to see Salter get an AFL call up.

Going to be a bit biased here. Don't think Salter is anywhere near AFL match fit. Has not played very many matches over the past 12 months. The heat and humidity of Darwin could take a huge toll of unfit players. Understand Hinkley would like to see what Salter has to offer as he has done with many power players this season but I don't think Darwin is the right situation.

First Butcher and then Salter, surely Port aren't going that bad.
At least Salter is decent at SANFL level but he aint an AFL footballer. Would be surprised if he remains on your list much longer
