Rnd 7: North v Eagles - POST GAME DISCUSSION

North 18.14 122
Eagles 13.6 84
Eagles got on top by 20+points early in the game but late North goals dragged it back to 1 point at half time.
North never looked like getting headed after that and ran out the game well with poor kicking at goals today costing them a heap of percentage.
North went inside 50 metres 20 more times than the Eagles.
Ryswyk 4, Stewart 3
Ainger 4, Goldsworthy 3

Very happy to get the win. Wasn't confident before the game, and thought the game got away from North early because of bad finishing in front of goal, and Ainger wobbling them through at the other end. Beaten all the teams around us, and lost the other by a point. Sounds like there is heaps of room for improvement.

Interesting to see Godden getting involved in a verbal altercation with a North fan after the game. Surely no matter how much of a peanut the fan is you should just ignore it and keep walking.
Was a good game. Eagles were all over North early but the last 2 goals in the first term really kept North in it. From there North got their run going and dominated for the vast majority of the day. Eagles were very efficient going forward and rarely wasted an opportunity but North too good on the day.

Beaten by a far superior team who cut us to ribbons with their pace. Our biggest problem the lack of pace was fully exposed.
Similar result to the trial match in March. Big improvement needed if we are to match it with quick sides.
We never seem to perform well at Prospect. North could be the team to beat in 2013

Even though North's last two wins have been at Prospect they have to be flag favorites right now.
Very quick.
Very well coached.

Eagles were not good - lucky to be in it @ 1/2 time.
North were very good - bad kicking in 1st 1/2 kept Eagles in it.
Great 1st game by Campbell Heath. Byron Sumner played well too.
North are the team to beat. Eagles will struggle to get the double chance - our lack of pace is very evident.

Good effort by the Chooks after what were were looking at half way through the 1st quarter.
13 more scoring shots from 20 more inside 50's tells the story of our dominace and poor finishing at times, should have been a 60 plus point win to be honest.
Good signs for the Roosters considering alot of punters had us sitting down the bottm 4 this season and still were not convinced after our win last outing over Norwood and especialy since Lewis Johnston is out injured. Good signs for North is that we still have our Captain, Vice Captain, Key big masn recruit and Johnsotn all to come back in over the coming weeks.
Eagles seemed to rely alot on Ainger up fwd given there other tall option was resting their ruckman up there which dodn't work from what I saw. Ainger did a good job early but in the end Miles shut him out to a degree when he was moved on to him. Their fwd line will be more potent when Grocke comes back.
Culley, is he a footballer or a tattooed "pretend" thug? Seriously should have been reported for one late behind the play "attempt" to take out smaller North players - he tried twice, flattened them both within the space of a couple of minutes with deliberate head high contact and looked like a DH when he couldn't cope with the North players fronting him as a result. Didn't see him try and iron out any blokes his size - Coward.
Also what is it with Parry, great ruckman but twice today behind play when North guys hit the deck he pushed their heads into the turf when they were on the ground and yapped at them. As I said a great ruckman but he does some stupid things everytime I see him play. Cameron Craig was a good match up on him when Parry rested forward - Parry doesn't bother to chase and Craig was able to set up or link up in running attacks from defence knowing Parry was "spent" metres behind him.

Weak piece of crap. Has arms full of tough stamps but it's clearly all for show cos there's nothing tough about the bloke. He seemed to find it quite amusing that his team was 40 points down with big satisfied grins on his face after twice taking out opposition players late. I'd be absolutely livid if a North player was laughing and acting like a knob when we are getting done. Absolute flog. Perhaps he learnt all about how to cope with losing from Godden. Great example he sets.

Still a lot of work to do it seems. North increasing their reputation with every game they play. Sorry to those North supporters who got their feelings hurt by some of the things the Eagles players apparently did.

Where did I say my feelings were hurt? Stupid comment! All I did was write down my thoughts on what I thought were some pretty cheap and nasty incidents but clearly you are happy for your players to concentrate on that sort of stuff which may indicate the difference between the two clubs at this stage of the season. It's ok to be agressive and hard at it but there are ways of going about it with out having to resort to being cheap and thuggish.

Hardly an altercation Rod

. He was simply answering the big fellas question. Rather than slag off a fellow North supporter behind a computer screen next time ignore it, or even better let him know about it at the game. We can`t be all perfect like you.

Have to agree. Pathetic and well below what you would expect from an Eagles league player. Div 6 maybe. North's running fast game style will win plenty of games this year. If the blunders can be ironed out we will be there abouts. With players to come back fresh later in the year things could be good.
Speaking of good, despite the thrashing in the reserves, good to see Tim Delvins run out the game.

We looked rotten in the 1st quarter, and terrific after that. Looking really good at the moment, but it's still early in the season.

Was more a reflection on the coach not the supporter. No issue at all with the passion of the gentleman in question. He won because he got a reaction. Not a great moment for Micky.

The worst incident of all was the gutless action of Will Dalwood coming from behind and punching a kneeling Salter in the face (had his back to Dalwood) absolutely pathetic, but I suppose winners can be grinners just like Dalwood (the smiling assasin) when the Eagles supporters got stuck into him.

Believe me, what Salter is owed is nothing compared to Dalwood. Is now a marked man.

It's very rare that the Eags score 6 goals in the first quarter and lose. The next 3 quarters were obviously very disappointing. We didn't play really badly, but we didn't win enough of the ball and made the odd poor decision. The fade out after the first quarter would be what Godden should be the most worried about. North were typically for Prospect doing all the right things, but we'll need to play better than we did yesterday to stay in the hunt for the double chance. Sumner was good again. Ainger did nothing wrong, and Heath and Goldy did OK but let themselves down occasionally with skill errors. Hopefully we learnt a lesson from North...

True dalwood is a thug and a Builder grader, as for. Salter getting pay back that's a joke, i remember. A north sniper in the 70s he got pay back

Kind of remember a game at woodville when salter belted a few north players behind play. Salter was owed a few, and probably still has a few coming.
Anyway, well done on posting.
