Now how did that happen?
Didn't want to be negative before this game but was a bit of a worry after South got hammered and we've just sort of been cruising along. I guess they had a sting last week andcame outfiring.

He is far too good for that level, he will look good in a Norwood guernsey next year

*nerd alert*
Different game plan for South today - they had 239 kicks and 134 marks.
South has not had more than 239 kicks or 134 marks in a H&A game since at least 2009 (my records only date back to Round 1, 2010 since CD took over).

Better signs today, but more improvement obviously required. Although it was a messy game at times, the endevour was there all day and some of our foot skills were pretty decent. We played a very high possession game it seemed, seeking out the shorter option rather than blazing long all the time. (thanks for the confirming stats Scott)
Liked the games of Snook (made something happen with his touches), Cross, Redigolo, Gotch and Wundke. Thewlis was important in the first half as a lead up forward given Eddy was quiet. Most guys had a contribution at some stage during the match which was a positive.
Hopefully the Rolfe injury isn't too bad.
Good to see Murphy rack up some huge numbers in the magoos.
Sturt let themselves down with their skill level. They have a dip but are lacking some polish.

South played a very different style today,as highlighted above. Good character after the capitulation of last week. Some things that stood out.
The midfield of Cross, Liddle, Stribling and Gotch stayed on the ground for longer and their influence was profound. Used the ball effectively.
Eddy, Hartigan and Fields had their best games in what are very short careers with us and hopefully it will continue.
Ky Miller was great as a rebounding defender and I think that he can progress a lot further.
Keegan Brooksby was challenged by Angus Graham in every sense and stood up well. Did a lot of work off the ball.
Unley oval looked like it was in great nic but players from both sides lost their footing continuosly.
Infringements on the mark were dealt with by 25 metre penalties (rule of the week)?

Ronnie seems to have a habit of letting his players go the Eags - Parry...Ainger...Murphy? Here's hoping. Would be a handy pick up for anyone.

Lives in our zone, allowed to recruit from our zone aren't we?

back onto topic perhaps...
South had a much better attitude today.. made less mistakes than sturt and applied plenty of pressure when Sturt had the ball. South used the small ground well and had some good forwards in Wundke, Eddy, Rolfe and Snook in good form. I thought the South ruckmen in Brooksby and Dowdell really got on top of Graham and gave the likes of Liddle, Gotch, Cross and Stribling first use. Hartigan, Fields and Redigolo were very good in defence as well. A good win after last weeks debacle , but still a lot of improvement required.

After the game, Fuller seemed to indicate that Rolfe could miss Friday's match. Shame for South because I thought he looked alright today...

A wins a win.....better signs this week but still have a long way to go.
Eddy showed he can play today.
Gotch, Liddle, Cross, Miller all played well.
Thought our defense stood up when tested. Still a long way to go but great to get the points.
Sturt looked lost after half time.
Sturts PA system is a disgrace and surely someone will sue with "burst" ear drums!!!
Curry's are great at Unley for $7.00 (behind the grandstand)........ I'm sure it was a highlight in Cambridge Clarrie's day!!!

First time to the SANFL for the year, so take this as read.
I found the speed of the game was far superior to the standard. It's almost like the guys want to be as good as the AFL but just aren't as capable. It meant that we have a quick, error riddled game. I can imagine that Norwood and West enjoy this because they capitalise on the errors of other sides. If I was coaching Sturt, I'd try and keep it simple rather than try and over complicate things. I think we've got adequate forwards, adequate backmen, so why are we struggling? Gameplan??
Today, we tended to leave the corridor open (defend inside your opponent, make them lead outward) and also let the ball get over the back quite often. Did I hear that Angus Graham is almost up for a call up to the Crows? Surely not!

He could be dangerous if he jumped at ruck contests
