An initial squad of 33 has been picked, with some pretty good players in the initial group...

Actually looks like a really good squad. Very few big omissions or undeserving call-ups. Norwood could probably have half their side in the team, but it sure looks like a side who won't be troubled by Queensland. From my club, guys like Gus Rowntree and Byron Sumner would IMO be better picks than Powelly at this stage of his career, but you'd think the final 22 would be pretty decent.

The other thing that can happen, is players showing great minor round form over the next few weeks can be added to the squad...

Central player Tom Collier was in the final 22 last year, but not in the initial squad this year. His form hasn't been great so far, though...

Looking more closely at the squad, it is a very good one, agreed...

It is only an initial squad and, like last year, players can still be added and omitted, should form warrant it...

A couple picked on past reputation and not form IMO. Meiklejohn is one!

Not sure how you can pick it after 2 rounds and from North point of view after one game? If form was the basis of picking North players then M. Thring and Ivens also should have got a berth?

Interesting to see Todd Miles in Godden's squad. Has obviously taken his game up to another level after leaving the Eagles (as evidenced by the Elim Final last year).

He is our best key defender and was a great pick up and continues to get better. Whether he can make the final team at CHB with Ferguson in the squad is unlikely but like Ferguson he is versatile so he could play? Of course injuries may dictate final selections / availability.

Would guess Miles is back up to Michael Coad. Watching him in the opening rounds his shoulder is still not 100% IMO

Dutchy will no doubt be disappointed that his 2 favourite Central players - Ed Sansbury & Ben Nason - aren't in the squad this year ;)

A few players picked on history, not sure Paul Thomas form the last 2 years has warranted him selection.

Also the selectors must have been watching the trial games because Brayden O'Hara dominated unfortunatly his disposal in the first two season proper games have been ordinary.

How are my favourite players going these days?

Crazy picking a squad after 1 or 2 games, great to see Fraser Evans make it, has he been playing well?
